Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3

WV CAN'T WAIT HAD THREE MAJOR PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT 2022. THESE PROGRAMS WERE OUR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM, HOMETOWN HEROES PROGRAM, AND OUR GOVERNANCE PROGRAM. IN OUR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM EACH APPRENTICE RECEIVES $30,000 IN FUNDING TO SUPPORT THEIR ONGOING ORGANIZING EFFORTS. THE PROGRAM FUNDS ALLOW APPRENTICES TO GROW EACH OF THEIR EXISTING ORGANIZING EFFORTS-WHICH SPAN FROM LABOR ORGANIZING TO DRUG USE HARM REDUCTION. EACH APPRENTICE RECEIVES MONTHLY ONE-ON-ONE COACHING, AND BI-MONTHLY IN-PERSON LEADERSHIP TRAINING. IN ADDITION, WV CAN'T WAIT PROVIDES SUPPORT THROUGH THEIR BUDGET AND FUNDRAISING TEAM, TO HELP APPRENTICES WITH ACCOUNTING, FISCAL SPONSORSHIP, AND ONGOING FUNDRAISING. IN THE FACE OF THIS CRISIS, WV CAN'T WAIT WANTS TO RECOGNIZE, CELEBRATE, AND FUND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE STEPPING UP AND FIGHTING BACK IN OUR COMMUNITIES. ONE OF THE WAYS WE WIN A PEOPLE'S GOVERNMENT IS TO SUPPORT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING THE WORK OUR GOVERNMENT HAS NEGLECTED. WV CAN'T WAIT WORKING CLASS HEROES ARE THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS, NURSES, TEACHERS, VETERANS GROUPS, FIRST RESPONDERS, HARM REDUCTION LEADERS, AND YOUTH WHO ARE SACRIFICING FOR OUR COMMUNITIES IN A WAY THAT PUTS POWER IN THE HANDS OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN EXCLUDED, STOLEN FROM, AND MARGINALIZED. WE WILL OFFER THESE WORKING CLASS HEROES AWARDS. WE WILL HAVE A FUN, EASY-TO-USE NOMINATION PROCESS (WHERE HEROES CAN NOMINATE THEMSELVES OR SOMEONE ELSE). IN ADDITION TO GIVING THESE INDIVIDUAL FUNDS, THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR ORGANIZER TRAINING. THEY WILL ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO SERVICES IN OUR NETWORK SUCH AS FREE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. OUR GOVERNANCE ACADEMY IS A GREAT WAY TO LEND OUR RESOURCES TO CURRENT ELECTED OFFICIALS. WE PROVIDE NON-PARTISAN GOVERNANCE TRAINING TO LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS. THIS TAKES THE FORM OF REGULAR WORKSHOPS, AS WELL AS LARGER SUMMITS SUCH AS OUR UPCOMING GOVERNANCE ACADEMY. TRAININGS INCLUDE TOPIC SUCH AS, UNDERSTANDING ARPA FUNDS, CREATIVE LOCAL GOVERNANCE SOLUTIONS TO THE OPIOID CRISIS AND SO ON. IN ADDITION, WE HOST MONTHLY TRAINING CALLS, AND ASSISTANCE ON AN NEED BY NEED BASIS.
