INFORMATION PACKETS, CONVERTING OVER 30 TOPICS, FEATURE A WIDE-RANGING SELECTION OF USEFUL STRATEGIES, ADDITIONAL READINGS AND CUTTING-EDGE RESEARCH ARTICLES BY LEADING EXPERTS IN THE FIELD. SPECIFIC PACKETS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED UPON REQUEST OF FAMILIES.
GOTTSCHALL ACCESS PROGRAM (GAP) OFFERS ADULTS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO ENHANCE THEIR LIFE, VOCATIONAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS WHICH WILL ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNSHIPS, AND THEN EVENTUALLY THE PURSUIT OF GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT. THIS PROGRAM TAKES PLACE AT BRISTOL COMMUNITY COLLEGE. STUDENTS ENROLL IN A 3 YEAR PROGRAM OF SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED COURSES AND HAVE FULL STUDENT ACCESS ON THE COLLEGE CAMPUS.
SYMPOSIUM AND PARENT RETREAT: SYMPOSIUM - THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS AN ANNUAL AUTISM SYMPOSIUM TO PROVIDE A FORUM FOR EDUCATION AND SUPPORT FOR PROFESSIONALS. THE SYMPOSIUM SERVES AS A FUNDRIASER FOR OUR ANNUAL PARENT RETREAT. PARENT RETREAT - WHISPERING PINES CONFERENCE CENTER: UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND CAMPUS WITH PARENT PARTICPIANTS. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE RETREAT IS TO PROVIDE A RELAXING AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR PARENTS TO RELFECT ON, EXPLORE AND SHARE THE REWARDS AND CHALLENGES OF RAISING A CHILD WITH ASD. ANOTHER PURPOSE IS TO PROIVDE A BRIEF GETAWAY FOR PARENTS TO RELAX AND ENJOY.
