AUTISMUPS DIRECT PROGRAMMING LOOKS AT THE WHOLE INDIVIDUAL. WE ARE CREATING A MODEL WHERE INDIVIDUALS MOVE FROM INTEREST AREAS TO DEVELOPED SKILLS INTO MORE FUNCTIONAL APPLICATION OF THE SKILLS. INCLUDED IN THIS AREA ARE ABOUT THREE DOZEN PROGRAMS OFFERED DURING THE YEAR. THESE PROGRAMS PRIMARILY FOCUS ON SOCIAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT, ADULT READINESS, SENSORY INTEGRATION, FITNESS AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. GIVEN THE PANDEMIC, WE BEGAN TO OFFER A VARIETY OF VIRTUAL CLASSES THAT ALLOWED PEOPLE TO CONTINUE TO BE ENGAGED. IT ALSO ALLOWED US TO EXPAND THE TERRITORY THAT WE REACH NEW PARTICIPANTS.

IN 2020 WE EMBARKED ON OUR NEW FRONTIER OF DIRECT PROGRAMMING WITH THE CREATION OF THE CENTER FOR COMMUNITY TRANSITION. AT THE HEART OF THIS PERSON-CENTERED APPROACH TO SKILL BUILDING FOR ADULTS IS THE FULL LIFE ACADEMY. WE ARE OFFERING ABOUT TWO DOZEN CLASSES TO INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE EXITED THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND TRANSITIONED TO ADULT SERVICES. OUR MODERN APPROACH AND COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS WITH BUSINESSES IN OUR COMMUNITY PROVIDES OUR PARTICIPANTS WITH UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES TO FURTHER BUILD SKILLS AND INCREASE THEIR INDEPENDENCE.
