THE WHEELCHAIR DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM DISTRIBUTED 3,056 WHEELCHAIRS TO INDIVIDUALS IN NINE PROVINCES IN NORTHERN VIETNAM. TRAINING WAS PROVIDED TO ENSURE INDIVIDUALS WILL RECEIVE A PROPERTLY FITTED WHEELCHAIR TO MEET THEIR NEEDS AND ON HOW TO USE THE WHEELCHAIR PROPERLY.
DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN IN NORTHERN VIETNAM AT RISK OF DROPPNG OUT OF SCHOOL RECEIVE THE NECESSARY SUPPORT THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS, NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT, BICYCLES, AND OTHER ASSISTANCE NECESSARY TO KEEP CHILDREN IN SCHOOL TO GIVE THEM A STEPPING STONE TO A BETTER FUTURE. DURING 2021, 293 CHILDREN RECEIVED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PRE- AND POST- HIGH SCHOOL 67 FAMILIES RECEIVED RICE TO HELP FREE UP FINANCES FOR SCHOOL EXPENSES 19 FAMILIES RECEIVED MEDICAL EXPENSE ASSISTANCE SO THE FAMILY COULD MAINTAIN INCOME STREAMS 47 CHILDREN RECEIVED BACKPACKS CONTAINING SCHOOL SUPPLIES 8 CHILDREN RECEIVED NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT AND, 68 CHILDREN WERE SUPPORTED WITH SCHOOL LUNCHES.
BLOSSOM HOUSE, A FOSTER HOME FOR GIRLS, WAS FOUNDED IN 2011. THE GIRLS COME FROM DIFFICULT ENVIRONMENTS WITHOUT STABLE FAMILY SUPPORT. THE GOAL OF BLOSSOM HOUSE IS TO EMPOWER THE GIRLS BY PROVIDING A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE, GOOD NUTRITION, PROPER HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS TRAINING. THE GIRLS ARE UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF A HOME MANAGER, A HOUSE MOTHER AND HER ASSISTANT, AND TWO SOCIAL WORKERS. THE HSCV EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ANOTHER HSCV DIRECTOR, AND AN HSCV PROGRAM MANAGER PROVIDE CLOSE OVERSIGHT.
