THE MISSION OF THE BARBARA SCHNEIDER FOUNDATION IS TO ELIMINATE THE CRIMINALIZATION AND ABUSIVE TREATMENT OF PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS BY IMPROVING PUBLIC SAFETY AND MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEMS THROUGH PROACTIVE TRAINING AND PUBLIC EDUCATION.

Part 3 - Line 4a

TRAINING: PROGRAMS INCLUDES DELIVERY OF A 40 HOUR MEMPHIS MODEL CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM TRAINING FOR POLICE OFFICERS, SHERIFF DEPUTIES, AND OTHER CRIMINAL JUSTICE, HOSPITAL AND RELATED STAFF IN THE ADULT SYSTEM AND IN THE CHILD AND ADOLESCENT SYSTEM, CIT TRAIN THE TRAINER CLASSES. DELIVERY OF A 32 HOUR CIT TRAINING IN THE MEMPHIS MODEL FORMAT FOR UNIFORMED SWORN AND NON-SWORN CORRECTIONS AND DETENTION STAFF. AN 8 HOUR DE-ESCALATION TRAINING FOR HEALTH, MENTAL HEALTH, SOCIAL SERVICES AND JUSTICE STAFF, EDUCATORS AND 6 HOUR CLASSES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS. NUMBER OF PERSONS BENEFITED 1,860.


COLLABORATION AND OUTREACH: REACHING OUT TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND COLLABORATION WITH OTHER AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT SUPPORT OUR MISSION AND ADVOCATE FOR OUR PERSPECTIVE.
