AMEM HAD ITS 61ST ANNUAL AMEM TRAINING CONFERENCE, SEPTEMBER 18-21, 2022. WE HAD 325 MEMBERS FROM EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, PUBLIC HEALTH, VOAD MEMBERS, STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCIES AND BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY ATTENDED THIS CONFERENCE. THE ASSOCIATION WORKED TO COORDINATE INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FOR EMERGENCY MANAGERS AS THEY STRUGGLE WITH PANDEMIC PLANNING AND RESPONSE. THE ASSOCIATION CONTINUED TO UTILIZE ITS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ELECTED OFFICIALS HANDBOOK AND BEGAN THE UPDATING OF THE HANDBOOK TO ADDRESS RECENT CHANGES IN LAWS AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT. THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTED INDIVIDUAL AND JURISDICTIONAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND PARTICIPATED IN TASK FORCE/COORDINATION MEETINGS WITH SUCH STATE AGENCIES AS THE MINNESOTA DEPT. OF HEALTH, THE MINNESOTA DEPT. OF MILITARY AFFAIRS, THE MINNESOTA STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL ON HOMELAND SECURITY, THE MINNESOTA DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION, MINNESOTA HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, AND THE ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA COUNTIES. IN ADDITION, THE ASSOCIATION BEGAN A VIRTUAL TRAINING PROGRAM TO REACH OUT TO MANY MORE MEMBERS MORE FREQUENTLY WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TRAINING TOPICS. WE HOPE TO CONTINUE TO EXPAND THIS SERVICE BEING IT WAS WELL RECEIVED. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO WORKED TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN PARTNERSHIPS AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH FEDERAL, TRIBAL, STATE, AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING, AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR; AND ENHANCE PROFESSIONALISM OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IN MINNESOTA THROUGH TRAINING PROGRAMS, IAEM STANDARDS AND PROGRAMS, PROMOTION OF THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TRAINING CENTER, AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN AMEM WEBSITE RESOURCE LIBRARY. THE ASSOCIATION WAS WORKED TO ADVOCATE TO THE PROMOTE THE PASSAGE OF A RAILROAD SAFETY LEGISLATION; NEW STATE EOC; EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE GRANT (EMPG) AND OTHER GRANT SUSTAINMENT EFFORTS AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL; AND ORIENTATION OF LEGISLATORS AND TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS.
