MINNESOTA TECH FOR SUCCESS CREATES DIGITAL EQUITY FOR STUDENTS BY PARTNERING WITH SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE TECHNOLOGY ACCESS, ENGAGING STEM PROGRAMMING, AND IT WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES.

THE PROGRAM INVOLVES REFURBISHING AND RECYCLING COMPUTERS THAT ARE DONATED BY LOCAL CORPORATIONS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. THESE COMPUTERS ARE THEN SOLD AT DISCOUNTED PRICES OR GIFTED TO SCHOOLS, TEACHERS, NOT-FOR- PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND DISADVANTAGED YOUTH THROUGHOUT MINNESOTA. MCFS IMPROVES STUDENT SUCCESS BY TRANSFORMING COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY TO PROVIDE GREATER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS IN MINNESOTA. IN 2021, OUR COMPUTER REFURBISHING PROGRAM WAS ABLE TO FILL A CRUCIAL COMMUNITY NEED, REFURBISHING 13,568 COMPUTERS; RECYCLING 21,211 USED TECHNOLOGY ITEMS; AND PLACING OVER 4,800 REFURBISHED COMPUTERS WITH MINNESOTA STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT - IN 2021 WE TAUGHT 186 STUDENTS COMPUTER REFURBISHING SKILLS, COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS +, CISCO IT ESSENTIALS, AND COMPTIA A+. ADDITIONALLY, YOUTH PROGRAMMING INCLUDED GAME, WEB, AND APP DESIGN THROUGH MCFS CORE: IT TRAINING PROGRAM. CLASSES WERE HELD VIRTUALLY.
