PEBC IS AN ENVIROMENTAL LEARNING CENTER PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THORUGH SOUTHERN AND WESTERN MINNESOTA AND NORTHERN IOWA. THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE PEBCS PROGRAMMING IS THROUGH THE USE OF THE ECOLOGY BUS.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

THE PEBCS PROGRAM FOCUS IS REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATIONAL. PEBCS MOST NOTABLE TEACHING TOOL IS THE ECOLOGY BUS, A CUSTOM DESIGNED, MOBILE LABORATORY AND CLASSROOM. THIS SPECIALIZED BUS TAKES YOUTH AND ADULTS TO NATURAL AREAS FOR LEARNING AND EXPLORING. BY BRINGING THE ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER TO THE PARTICIPANT, PEBC CAN LOCALIZE THEIR PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE RELEVANT INFORMATION AND HELP PARTICIPANTS UNDERSTAND THE VALUE AND IMPORTANCE OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES THEY HAVE LOCALLY. PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED TO PRESCHOOL AGE LEARNERS THROUGH SENIOR CITIZENS. NATURALIST PROGRAMS FURTHER PEBCS EDUCATIONAL REACH THROUGH NONBUS PROGRAMMING BROUGHT TO SCHOOLS FOR INDOOR ASSEMBLIES, COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES, LIBRARY PROGRAMS, YOUTH PROGRAMS, ADULT PROGRAMS/TOURS, TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOPS, PUBLIC PROGRAMMING, AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES, COUNTY FAIR ACTIVITIES, COMMUNITY EVENTS AND MORE. THEY CURRENTLY HAVE 10,000+ PARTICIPATES.


AWARDED GRANTS THROUGH THE LAWFUL GAMBLING FUND TOTALING $66,775 TO VARIOUS MANKATO AREA GROUPS TO SUPPORT THEIR ACTIVITIES.
