END ABUSE PROMOTES SOCIAL CHANGE THAT TRANSFORMS SOCIETAL ATTITUDES, PRACTICES AND POLICIES TO PREVENT AND ELIMINATE DOMESTIC ABUSE AND OPPRESSION. END ABUSE IS THE ONLY STATEWIDE COALITION LED BY SOCIAL POLICY ADVOCATES, ATTORNEYS AND EXPERTS WORKING TO SUPPORT, CONNECT, EQUIP, EMPOWER AND LEAD ORGANIZATIONS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE TO END DOMESTIC ABUSE. END ABUSE'S FOUR MOST COMMON ACTIVITIES ARE 1) NETWORKING AND SUPPORT FOR VICTIMS, THEIR FAMILIES, AND FOR PROFESSIONALS WORKING WITH VICTIMS, BATTERERS, AND THEIR CHILDREN; 2) TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE; 3) POLICY DEVELOPMENT; AND 4) EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT. BEGINNING IN 2017 AND THROUGHOUT 2020, END ABUSE INITIATED ONE MAJOR NEW PROGRAM: PRIMARY PREVENTION. INITIAL FUNDING WAS FOR $2 MILLION TO BE SPENT OVER FOR 18 MONTHS AND GOING FORWARD WILL BE $1 MILLION PER YEAR. THE PRIMARY PREVENTION PROGRAM HAS CREATED A SUB-GRANTEE PROGRAM AND PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.

PROGRAM SUPPORT, TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: IN 2020 END ABUSE RESPONDED TO OVER 1,099 REQUESTS FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. OF THOSE CONTACTS, 57% OF STAFF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONTACTS INVOLVED SERVICES TO LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE PROGRAMS. WE PROVIDED TRAINING TO 3,000+ INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING A WIDE VARIETY OF SYSTEMS PROFESSIONALS AS WELL AS OVER 1,000 VICTIM ADVOCATES FROM LOCAL DOMESTIC OR SEXUAL ABUSE PROGRAM. THAT TRAINING INCLUDED 79 TRAINING EVENTS, INCLUDING CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS, WEBINARS, AND CONFERENCE CALLS SPONSORED BY END ABUSE, 79 EVENTS AT WHICH END ABUSE STAFF WERE GUEST PRESENTERS. TRAININGS AND MEETINGS PARTICIPATION INCLUDED A BROAD RANGE OF VICTIM ADVOCACY, JUSTICE, HEALTH, ECONOMIC, AND HUMAN SERVICE PROFESSIONALS.
MEMBERSHIP: END ABUSE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR NETWORKING AMONG VICTIMS, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATES, FAMILY MEMBERS OF VICTIMS, BATTERERS, TREATMENT SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN RELATED FIELDS. ITS CURRENT FOCUS IS TO DRAW COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, TEENS, LGBTQ, ELDERS, AND PROFESSIONALS IN THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES FIELD INTO THESE NETWORKS.
POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATION: IN 2020, END ABUSE'S POLICY ADVOCACY FOCUSED ON THE PREVENTION OF LEGISLATION THAT WOULD BE HARMFUL TO SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE. POLICY STAFF EFFORTS BECAME CONCENTRATED ON ADVOCACY EFFORTS RELATING TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, INCLUDING ADVOCATING FOR INCREASED FUNDS FOR SURVIVORS AND RAISING AWARENESS OF THE COMPOUNDING IMPACT THAT THE PANDEMIC HAS ON SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE AND THEIR CHILDREN.
