Part 3 - Line 1
SPARROW FREEDOM PROJECT'S MISSION IS TO BUILD A SURVIVOR LED COMMUNITY SUPPORTING AND EMPOWERING EXLPLOITED AND TRAFFICKED INDIVIDUALS ON THEIR JOURNEY TO ACHIEVING INDEPENDENCE THROUGH SERVICES AND PREVENTION.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
WRAPAROUND SERVICE PROGRAM. SPARROW FREEDOM PROJECT'S WRAPAROUND SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM CONNECTS TRAFFICKED AND EXPLOITED INDIVIDUALS TO SUPPORTIVE SERVICES AND RESOURCES IN A TRAUMA INFORMED CARE ENVIRONMENT. OUR TRAINED ADVOCATES ENSURE THAT EVERY INDIVIDUAL'S SAFETY AND IMMEDIATE NEEDS ARE MET AND PROVIDE REFERRALS IF NEEDED. AS MANY OF US KNOW, GETTING ASSISTANCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIFFICULT FOR SURVIVORS DUE TO THE RED TAPE CREATED BY SYSTEMS. IT IS OUR GOAL TO FILL IN THE GAPS WHERE THIS RED TAPE PREVENTS SURVIVORS FROM GETTING THE HELP THEY NEED. THROUGH OUR PROGRAM, AND IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS, TRAFFICKED AND EXPLOITED INDIVIDUALS WILL FIND ACCESS (OR APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE) FOR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: MEALS/GROCERIES, CLOTHES/SHOES, HOUSEHOLD CLEANING PRODUCTS/SUPPLIES, HYGIENE NEEDS/TOILETRIES, HOME FURNISHINGS, EMERGENCY SHELTER, TRANSPORTATION (RIDE-SHARES, BUS PASSES, GAS/FUEL ETC.), RENT, UTILITY/PHONE BILLS, MEDICAL/DENTAL BILLS, CAR REPAIRS, AND MORE
SPONSOR-A-SURVIVOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT FOR MANY SURVIVORS. THEY YEARN FOR THE WARMTH AND COMFORT OF A LOVING FAMILY, WHILE OTHERS FEEL HOPELESS AS THEY DO NOT HAVE THE MEANS TO AFFORD CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR THEIR CHILD/CHILDREN. THE SPONSOR-A-SURVIVOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM BEGAN IN DECEMBER 2017 AND HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR AND BUSIEST TIMES OF THE YEAR FOR SFP. IN COLLABORATION WITH CHURCHES, SCHOOLS, LOCAL BUSINESSES, AND DONORS, THE PROGRAM HAS GROWN FROM HELPING 7 SURVIVORS AND THEIR CHILDREN IN 2017 TO MORE THAN 164 IN 2021. 30+ VOLUNTEERS HELPED WITH SORTING, WRAPPING, AND DELIVERY OF PRESENTS.
CONTINUING EDUCATION & TRAINING PROGRAM. WE PROVIDE SPECIALIZED LIVE ONLINE EDUCATIONAL COURSES AS WELL AS IN PERSON ON THE SUBJECT OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. THESE COURSES COVER VARIOUS ASPECTS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING NEEDED BY PROFESSIONALS (SOCIAL WORKERS, DOCTORS, NURSES, DENTISTS, PHARMACISTS, COUNSELORS, ETC.) TO COMPLETE THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW AND RENEWING OF LICENSES. MANY PROFESSIONALS DO NOT NEED IT FOR LICENSING BUT STILL TAKE THESE COURSES, SUCH AS TEACHERS, PARENTS, PASTORS, COACHES, ELECTRICIANS, PLUMBERS, ETC.
