THE WISCONSIN SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS HAD APPROXIMATELY 1,200 MEMBERS DURING 2021, OF WHICH APPROXIMATELY 700 WERE PRACTICING PHYSICIANS IN WISCONSIN.


THE WISCONSIN SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS HELD ITS ANNUAL MEETING AT THE RADISSON HOTEL IN LA CROSSE, WI. AFTER THIS MEETING, ATTENDEES WERE ABLE TO 1) EXPLORE THE ADVANCED SPECIALIZED TRAINING OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS AND WAYS TO DEMONSTRATE THIS VALUE TO HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS, 2) THROUGH TOPIC-BASED DISCUSSIONS, REFLECT ON THE INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE'S SIX AIMS OF QUALITY CARE: PATIENT-CENTERED CARE, PATIENT SAFETY, TIMELINESS, EFFICIENT CARE, EFFECTIVE CARE AND EQUITABLE CARE, 3) DISCUSS UPDATES IN ESSENTIAL PERIOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT INCLUDING PRE-OPERATIVE EVALUATION AND OPTIMIZATION, MANAGEMENT OF SEPSIS AND INTRAOPERATIVE FLUIDS, AS WELL AS TRANSFUSION MEDICINE, 4) REVIEW MEDICOLEGAL ISSUES SURROUNDING TECHNOLOGY AND DEVICES FOR THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST IN THE 21ST CENTURY 5) IDENTIFY THE BENEFITS OF REGIONAL AND MULTIMODAL THERAPIES TO DEVELOP STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING PAIN MANAGEMENT IN THE PERIOPERATIVE SETTING, AND 6) SHARE KNOWLEDGE, EXPERTISE AND NETWORK WITH COLLEAGUES, INDUSTRY EXPERTS AND ACADEMIC ANESTHESIOLOGISTS ON THE FOREFRONT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY. THE MEETING OFFERED UP TO 7.0 ACCREDITATION COUNCIL FOR CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (ACCME) CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME) CREDITS AND UP TO 7.0 AMERICAN BOARD OF ANESTHESIOLOGY (ABA) SAM (MOCA PART II) CREDITS, BOTH PROVIDED THROUGH AMEDCO.
