PROMOTING LEADERSHIP IN DERMATOLOGY AND EXCELLENCE IN PATIENT CARE THROUGH EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND ADVOCACY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY - THIS INCLUDES THE ANNUAL AND SUMMER SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS. THESE MEETINGS ARE ATTENDED BY MORE THAN 19,000 DERMATOLOGISTS, OTHER PHYSICIANS, ALLIED MEDICAL PERSONNEL, AND OTHERS. THESE TWO PROGRAMS COMBINED PRESENT MORE THAN 500 INDIVIDUAL EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS PROVIDING RESULTS OF CURRENT RESEARCH AND RECENT ADVANCES IN THE DIAGNOSIS, MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT OF DERMATOLOGIC CONDITIONS AND DISEASES, AND ADDRESS ISSUES OF PATIENT SAFETY, QUALITY OF CARE AND PRACTICE MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT.
THE AAD'S COMMUNICATIONS TEAM PROVIDES STRATEGIC OVERSIGHT AND DIRECTION THAT GUIDES THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTI-FACETED COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAMS AIMED AT REINFORCING DERMATOLOGY AS A SPECIALTY COMMITTED TO ADVANCING QUALITY PATIENT CARE THROUGH STATE-OF-THE-ART SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND ENCOURAGING PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF SKIN HEALTH, THE IMPACT OF SKIN DISEASE ON PATIENTS, AND BEHAVIORS THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY SKIN, HAIR, AND NAILS.
IN ADDITION TO THE ANNUAL AND SUMMER MEETINGS, EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ARE DELIVERED THROUGH LIVE AND DIGITAL FORMATS THAT INCLUDE VIRTUAL MEETINGS (VMX), REGIONAL COURSES, QUESTION OF THE WEEK, DIALOGUES IN DERMATOLOGY, JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DERMATOLOGY (JAAD) AND OTHER VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL TOOLS IN ORDER TO SUPPORT DERMATOLOGISTS IN STAYING CURRENT IN PRACTICE AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATION.
