TO ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION TO IMPROVE LIVES BY MOBILIZING THE CARING POWER OF BARRY COUNTY COMMUNITIES WE HAVE COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING DURING 2023/2024 FISCAL YEAR: - PROVIDED FUNDING TO 34 PROGRAMS THAT WERE ACCESSED OVER 68,000 TIMES BY RESIDENTS OF BARRY COUNTY IN FOUR FUNDING AREAS: HELPING YOUTH ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL, ADDRESSING URGENT AND EMERGING NEEDS, SUPPORTING FAMILIES TO ACHIEVE WELL BEING AND SUCCESS, AND ASSISTING SENIORS ADULTS FIND SUPPORT AND MAINTAIN INDEPENDENCE. - THE BARRY COPUNTY UNITED WAY WAS ALSO ABLE TO PROVIDE DIRECT ASSISTANCE TO CLIENTS THROUGH HOUSING AND UTILITY STATE GRANTS AS WELL AS THE VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICE FOR OUR COMMUNITY. - PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER BUSINESSES AND NOT FOR PROFITS ENABLE BARRY COUNTY UNITED WAY TO IMPACT THE COMMUNITY IN MANY WAYS INCLUDING: -- 203 COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE TRAINED IN CPR & AED -- 309 CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO SHOP FOR BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES -- 34 FAMILIES RECEIVED EDUCATION AND INSTALLATION OF CAR SEATS -- 509 CHILDREN RECEIVED CHRISTMAS PRESENTS -- 700 VETERANS WERE PROVIDED WITH ASSISTANCE -- 753 HOUSEHOLDS ACCESSED 211 SERVICES WITHIN THE PROGRAM -- 767 HOUSEHOLDS ACCESSED ASSISTANCE FOR TAXES THROUGH THE VOLUNTEER IN TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM -- 497 FAMILIES ACCESSED ASSISTANCE FOR HOUSING AND UTILITIES. -- 43,234 TIMES RESIDENTS ACCESSED THE FRESH FOOD INITIATIVE.
MICHIGAN PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION AND EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS FROM THE STATE OF MICHIGAN HELPED IN ASSISTING 497 FAMILIES WITH HOUSING FORECLOSURE/EVICTION AND UTILITY SHUT-OFF ISSUES IN OUR FISCAL YEAR.
