Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PATRIOTS AND PAWS FOUNDED IN NOVEMBER OF 2011. PATRIOTS AND PAWS WAS CREATED BECAUSE FOUNDER REALIZED THAT MANY OF OUR VETERANS/ACTIVE MILITARY/ RESERVISTS SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN ARE IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL HELP IN THE FORM OF BASIC HOME FURNISHINGS LIKE A BED, DRESSER, DINING ROOM TABLE AND DISHES BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN HOMELESS OR HAVE JUST RECENTLY OBTAINED HOUSING. MANY OF THESE VETERANS AND SERVICE MEMBERS HAVE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN. THROUGH OUR SERVICES WE ARE ABLE TO GIVE MANY OF THEM THEIR DIGNITY BACK AND GIVE THEM HOPE. BECAUSE OF THE GENEROSITY OF DONORS, IN 2022 THE ORGANIZATION SERVED OVER 1500 VETERANS, ACTIVE MILITARY AND RESERVISTS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE ORGANIZATION HAS MAINTAINED A WAREHOUSE FOR OVER 11 YEARS. PATRIOTS AND PAWS CURRENTLY HAS TWO PROGRAMS: PROVISIONS FOR PATRIOTS PROVIDES BASIC HOME FURNISHINGS IN A WAREHOUSE ENVIRONMENT. THIS IS THE ORGANIZATION'S LARGEST PROGRAM TO DATE. SERVING OVER 10,500 VETERAN, ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVISTS THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SINCE OUR INCEPTION. PAWS PARTNERS IS A PROGRAM THAT HAS CHANGED A BIT DUE TO A NEW LAW, ALLOWING VETERANS IN CALIFORNIA GO TO COUNTY SHELTERS AND ADOPT AN ANIMAL AT NO COST. THIS IS BETTER THAN THEY HAVING TO COME TO THE ONE SHELTER WE WORKED WITH, THE LOCAL SHELTERS BENEFITS, BY HAVING MORE ANIMALS ADOPTED. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON CREATING A KENNEL THAT WILL ALLOW VETERANS TO KENNEL THEIR ANIMALS WITH US, WHILE THEY TAKE CARE OF THEIR PERSONAL/MEDICAL NEEDS. SOME OF THOSE HELPED BY THE ORGANIZATION NEED A PURPOSE AND HAVING AN ANIMAL GIVES THEM THAT PURPOSE. PATRIOTS AND PAWS VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED OVER 125,000 VOLUNTEERS SINCE WE HAVE STARTED. ALL DONATIONS GO TO OFFSET OPERATING EXPENSES. THE ORGANIZATION'S LARGEST EXPENSE IS MONTHLY RENT, AND THE NEXT LARGEST IS TRANSPORTATION. THE REMAINDER OF FUNDS PAYS FOR PAYROLL OF 1 FULL TIME AND 5 PART TIME EMPLOYEES, INSURANCE, UTILITIES, AND FUEL AND OFFICE SUPPLY COSTS. DONOR GENEROSITY KEEPS OUR DOORS OPEN AND ALLOWS THE ORGANIZATION TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THOSE WHO SERVED OUR COUNTRY AND GIVE US THE FREEDOM WE HAVE TODAY.
