Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3

AS COVID LINGERS, THE GROSSE POINTE ARTISTS ASSOCIATION DAILY HEARS FROM PEOPLE IN DESPAIR OVER THE CONTINUING THREAT OF THE ILLNESS AND THE TURMOIL SURROUNDING IT. MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, THEY ARE TURNING TO ARTMAKING FOR SOLACE. IN RESPONSE, THE ASSOCIATION HAS RESUMED OFFERING SOME CLASSES, IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL FORUMS. THE ARTISTS TELL US THEY APPRECIATE THESE OPPORTUNITIES TO TALK ART WITH OTHER ARTISTS. WE ARE ALSO CONTINUING OUR PROMISING ARTISTS EXHIBITION. NOW IN ITS 6TH YEAR, THE EXHIBITION IS DESIGNED TO GIVE STUDENTS THE EXPERIENCE OF ENTERING A PROFESSIONAL, JURIED SHOW. THIS YEARS JUROR IS A PRODUCT OF THE PROGRAM. BUILDING ON HIS EXPERIENCE AS A PROMISING ARTIST, HE ENTERED NINE GALLERY SHOWS IN 2021, WHERE HE WON TWO SECOND-PLACE AWARDS. REACHING A LARGER COMMUNITY, THE ASSOCIATION HAS ALSO RESUMED ITS LECTURE SERIES ON THE ROLE OF ART AND DESIGN IN THE COMEBACK OF DETROIT. WE ARE ALSO RESUMING OUR PUBLIC ART PROJECT AND EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITY OF WORKING WITH A LOCAL URBAN FARMING GROUP TO ORGANIZE A SUMMERTIME ART INTERVENTION.
