THE ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION OF METRO FOUNDATION STATE THAT ITS PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR METROPOLITAN HOSPITAL (UMH WEST). FURTHER, ITS BYLAWS PROVIDE THAT ITS SOLE MEMBER IS UMH WEST WHICH HAS RESERVED POWERS,INCLUDING APPROVAL OF ANY STRATEGIC PLANS, ANNUAL OR OTHER BUDGETS, CAPITAL EXPENDITURES NOT INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET THAT EXCEEDS A CERTAIN LIMIT, AMONG OTHERS. METRO FOUNDATION IS INCLUDED IN THE CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF U-M HEALTH FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2023.

HELPING HANDS PROVIDES DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO EMPLOYEES FACING UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES AND BARRIERS. MONEY IS OFTEN SPENT ON BASIC NEEDS SUCH AS FOOD, RENT, AND BILLS. EMPLOYEES TYPICALLY APPLY AFTER AN UNFORSEEN LIFE EVENT SUCH AS A CAR ACCIDENT OR MISSING PROLONGED TIME FROM WORK.


GRANTS TO SUPPORT LEADING-EDGE SURGICAL EQUIPMENT,GAME-CHANGING DOCUMENTATION SOFTWARE, DEI PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE, CONTINUING EDUCATIONOPPORTUNITIES, SUICIDE PREVENTION INITIATIVES, NURSING & MEDICAL ASSISTANT STAFFING SCHOLARSHIPPIPELINES, STRESS MANAGEMENT EDUCATION, EMPLOYEE CHILDCARE SUPPORT, PATIENT CAREEQUIPMENT, MATERNAL INFANT HEALTH NEEDS, FOOD PANTRY SUPPLIES, BUS PASSES, AND DIABETESEDUCATION PATIENT SUPPORT.


THE 2023 VITALITY GALA IS A BLACK-TIE FUNDRAISER HIGHLIGHTING CARDIAC SERVICES AT UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN HEALTH-WEST. PROCEEDS FROM SPONSORSHIP AND DONATIONS WILL GO TO SUPPORT THE GREATEST NEEDS OF THE ORGANIZATION.


THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FUND PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR THE HEALTH SYSTEMS CAPITAL NEEDS AND PRIORITIES. DURING THE 2023 FISCAL YEAR, THIS INVOLVED FUNDING THE EFFORTS, EQUIPMENT, AND RENOVATIONS TO HELP LAUNCH THE OPEN HEART SURGERY PROGRAM.
