THE SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL PARTICULAR COUNCIL OF JACKSON COUNTY IS COMMITTED TO RESPONDING TO THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO FIND THEMSELVES IN DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES. THE ORGANIZATION'S GOAL IS TO OFFER ASSISTANCE THAT RECOGNIZES THE RESPECT AND DIGNITY OF THOSE WHO WE ENCOUNTER, ADDRESSING SHORT-TERM NEEDS AS WELL AS LONGER-TERM ISSUES. TO HELP PEOPLE MEET THE VARIETY OF CHALLENGES FACING THEM, THE SOCIETY PROVIDES BASIC ASSISTANCE FOR FINANCIAL, FOOD, CLOTHING, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICAL, AND OTHER NEEDS.

THE COUNCIL OPERATES TWO THRIFT STORES AND ONE FURNITURE STORE. THESE STORES ACCEPT DONATIONS OF HIGH-QUALITY NEW AND USED CLOTHING, FURNITURE, AND OTHER ITEMS FOR RESALE, AS WELL AS DONATIONS OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS. THE STORES THEN RESELL THESE ITEMS AT VERY AFFORDABLE PRICES OR ARE PROVIDED TO THE NEEDY AT NO COST.


FUNDS GENERATED FROM THE STORE ARE DISTRIBUTED TO THE SEVEN LOCAL SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL CONFERENCES TO DISTRIBUTE TO THE NEEDY IN THE COMMUNITY PROVIDING FOOD, ASSISTANCE WITH RENT, UTILITIES, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICAL NEEDS, AND EDUCATION ON A TEMPORARY BASIS.
