TO ENGAGE PEOPLE IN MUSIC TO ENRICH THE CULTURAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY THROUGH CONCERTS, MUSICAL EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS.

HOLLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (HS0) CREATED CONCERTS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND COLLABORATIVE EVENTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021. EIGHT CONCERTS WERE PROGRAMMED, AND TICKETS WERE SOLD TO INCLUDE: 3 CLASSICAL, 1 HOLIDAY, 1 FAMILY, 1 CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, 1 TICKETED POPS AND 1 FREE POPS. 500 SEASON TICKETS WERE SOLD. DUE TO THE STATE OF MICHIGAN AND VENUE SHUTDOWNS CAUSED BY THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC, ALL HSO CONCERTS WERE POSTPONED UNTIL 2021-2022. 69% ROLLED OVER THEIR TICKETS TO THE NEXT YEAR, 27% DONATED THE COST OF TICKETS AND 4% WERE REFUNDED. FOUR VIRTUAL CONCERTS WERE RECORDED ON YOUTUBE WITH NO AUDIENCE AND SENT TO OUR SEASON TICKET HOLDERS AND PARENTS OF OUR YOUTH ORCHESTRA STUDENTS FREE OF CHARGE.
HOLLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONTINUED THE CARNEGIE HALL LINK UP PROGRAM WITH 1,900 FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM ALL THE LOCAL SCHOOLS WITH ITS YEAR-LONG CURRICULUM, TEACHER TRAINING SESSIONS, AND VISITING MENTORS VIA ZOOM. THE ONLY PART OF THE PROGRAM THAT DID NOT HAPPEN WAS THE FINAL CULMINATING CONCERT DUE TO COVID 19. HOWEVER, HSO DID SEND A VIDEO TO SCHOOLS OF THE CULMINATING CONCERT. TWO HOLLAND SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA PROGRAMS CONTINUED ALL YEAR WITH STRINGS ONLY FOR THE DURATION OF THE YEAR CULMINATING IN TWO VIDEO CONCERTS SHARED WITH PARENTS VIA YOUTUBE. A SERIES OF WEEKLY VIDEOS TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH OUR AUDIENCE WAS CREATED CALLED "INTERMISSIONS" SHARING RECORDED HSO CONCERT SELECTIONS, INTERVIEWS WITH MUSICIANS, CONDUCTOR AND STAFF, TOURS OF OUR FACILITIES, AND INDUSTRY INFORMATION.
