THE CSO PRESENTED TWO INDOOR CONCERT SERIES IN THE 20-21 SEASON. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CONCERTS WAS REDUCED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. A MASTERWORKS SERIES OF 10 CONCERT EVENTS WAS HELD AT THE OHIO THEATRE. A POPS SERIES OF 4 CONCERT EVENTS, INCLUDING THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY POPS, WAS ALSO HELD AT THE OHIO THEATRE. TOTAL ATTENDANCE AT THESE EVENTS WAS OVER 4,570 PATRONS.
THE CSO HOSTED THE ANNUAL PICNIC WITH THE POPS AND POPCORN POPS SUMMER CONCERT EVENTS DURING THE SUMMER OF 2021. THESE EVENTS BROUGHT JUST OVER 18,180 PATRONS TO THE DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS COMMONS. THIS YEAR'S SEASON INCLUDED THE MUSIC OF QUEEN AND ELTON JOHN ALONG WITH CONCERTS FROM ENVOGUE, TITO PUENTE AND MICHAEL BOLTON. THE SEASON ALSO INCLUDED THE EVER POPULAR PATRIOTIC POPS AND THE OSU MARCHING BAND. THE CSO PROVIDED A SUMMER NIGHT MUSIC SERIES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY 990 PATRONS.
THE CSO'S EDUCATION PROGRAMS PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN OUTREACH AND DIVERSITY EFFORTS. THE PROGRAMS STRIVE TO MAKE MUSIC RELEVANT AND MEANINGFUL FOR THE PEOPLE WE SERVE, BRINGING MUSIC TO LIFE BY ENCOURAGING INTERACTION WITH MUSIC FAR BEYOND MERE APPRECIATION. EDUCATION INITIATIVES INCLUDE THE COLUMBUS ALL CITY ORCHESTRA, CSO YOUTH ORCHESTRAS, MASTER CLASSES, AND THE YOUNG MUSICIANS COMPETITION. OTHER EDUCATION AND FAMILY-ORIENTED SHOWS INCLUDE THE YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONCERTS, YOUNG MUSICIAN'S SHOWCASE, AND THE FAMILY SERIES CONCERTS FOR KIDS. EDUCATION PROGRAMS ENRICHED THE LIVES OF MORE THAN 55,589 IN THE 20-21 SEASON.
