THE COALITION WORKS AS A LIAISON WITH HOMELESS PROVIDERS IN BERKS COUNTY IN AN EFFORT TO MAXIMIZE THEIR RESOURCES AND COORDINATE THEIR SERVICES. THEY OVERSEE PERMANENT HOUSING, HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES, AND STRATEGIC PLANNING. THE COALITION ALSO MANAGES SEVERAL LOW INCOME PROPERTIES, A FAMILY SHELTER, THE LOCAL HOMELESS MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM, STREET OUTREACH, AS WELL AS OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT ARE PART OF THE COLLABORATVIE EFFORT OF DOZENS OF NONPROFITS, GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, AND OTHER BERKS COUNTY ORGANIZATIONS. DURING THE FY 2020-2021, THERE WERE 8,201 CLIENTS SERVED. SEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SCHEDULE O. AS A COVID-19 RESPONSE WE UTILIZED HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HAP) FUNDING TO SERVE HOMELESS WOMEN AND MEN WITH CHILDREN OR FAMILIES INTO A HOTEL PROGRAM THAT COULD PROVIDE A 28-DAY STAY UNTIL HOMELESSNESS CAN BE STABILIZED. IN MARCH 2021, THE COALITION BECAME THE ADMINISTRATIVE ARM OF THE EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (ERAP) FROM THE U.S. TREASURERY WHICH PROVIDED OVER $52,000,000 FOR BERKS COUNTY RESIDENTS. IN THE FALL OF 2020, THE COALITION BECAME THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND DIRECT RESOUCE FOR EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANTS - CARES ACT (ESG-CV) FUNDS FOR HOMELESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE-HOUSING FOR THOSE BERKS COUNTY RESIDENTS THAT LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE CITY OF READING.
