THE LEUKEMIA RESEARCH FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO CONQUERING ALL BLOOD CANCERS BY FUNDING RESEARCH INTO THEIR CAUSES AND CURES, AND ENRICHING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THOSE TOUCHED BY THESE DISEASES.

WE FUND PROMISING RESEARCH WORLDWIDE TO ACCELERATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TREATMENTS AND THERAPIES FOR ALL BLOOD CANCERS, INCLUDING LEUKEMIA, LYMPHOMA, MYELOMA, AND MYELODYSPLASTIC SYNDROMES. OUR RESEARCHERS' PROJECTS IN GENOMICS, IMMUNOTHERAPIES, AND STEM CELL BIOLOGY HAVE ADVANCED OUR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT DRIVES THESE CANCERS TO FORM AND PROGRESS AND WHAT BIOLOGICAL MARKERS COULD BE TARGETS FOR TREATMENT. IN FY2022, WE AWARDED THIRTEEN $100,000 GRANTS TO RESEARCHERS WORLDWIDE. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING RESEARCH THROUGH OUR NEW INVESTIGATOR RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM, WE ARE PARTNERING WITH CURES WITHIN REACH THIS YEAR TO FUND A $75,000 DRUG REPURPOSING CLINICAL TRIAL FOR BLOOD CANCERS. THE CLINICAL TRIAL WILL LEVERAGE THE SPEED, SAFETY, AND COST-EFFECTIVENESS OF TESTING A THERAPY ALREADY APPROVED BY THE FDA TO DELIVER A NEW EFFECTIVE TREATMENT TO PATIENTS MORE QUICKLY.


OUR NEED-BASED PATIENT GRANT PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO ASSIST PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES BY EASING THE FINANCIAL BURDEN SO THEY CAN FOCUS ON THEIR HEALTH AND TREATMENT. ELIGIBLE PATIENTS WITH LEUKEMIA, LYMPHOMA, MYELOMA, OR MYELODYSPLASTIC SYNDROME CAN RECEIVE A ONE-TIME GRANT OF UP TO $1,500. IN FY2022, WE DISPERSED GRANTS TO 102 PATIENTS.


THROUGH OUR FREE EDUCATION CONFERENCES AND WEBINARS, PATIENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES CAN LEARN ABOUT VARIOUS BLOOD CANCER-RELATED TOPICS AND SPEAK WITH EXPERT HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY PHYSICIANS. IN FY2022, APPROXIMATELY 971 PEOPLE REGISTERED FOR OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMS.WE ALSO OFFER FREE PEER SUPPORT SERVICES TO BLOOD CANCER PATIENTS AND CAREGIVERS, INCLUDING AN ONLINE SUPPORT COMMUNITY, AND PARTNER WITH A CANCER SUPPORT ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE A PEER MENTORING PROGRAM. IN FY2022, MORE THAN 4,000 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN OUR PEER SUPPORT PROGRAMS.
