PROVIDES CITIZENS OF THE INDIANA COUNTIES OF ALLEN, ADAMS, BLACKFORD, HUNTINGTON, JAY, WELLS AND WHITLEY, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON PERSONS 55 YEARS AND OLDER AND OTHERS REGARDLESS OF AGE, RACE, INCOME OR DISABILITY, THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE SUPPORTING LOCALLY ESTABLISHED INITIATIVES. IN 2022, APPROXIMATELY 93,799 HOURS OF SERVICE WERE PROVIDED BY 2,591 VOLUNTEERS.
EITC TAX PROGRAM - OFFERING FREE FEDERAL AND STATE INCOME TAX PREPARATION TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES IN THE ALLEN COUNTY AND NORTHEAST INDIANA COMMUNITIES. FOR 2022, OUR 38 IRS CERTIFIED TAX VOLUNTEERS ASSISTED 1,698 TAXPAYERS IN FIVE LANGUAGE GROUPS AND RETURNED APPROXIMATELY 2.380 MILLION DOLLARS TO ALLEN COUNTY AND NORTHEAST INDIANA FAMILIES.
SECOND CHANCE INITIATIVE - PROVIDES LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS WITH EXPUNGEMENT OF CRIMINAL RECORDS, A BARRIER TO EMPLOYMENT AND FINANCIAL STABILITY. THE PROGRAM HELPS REINTEGRATE PEOPLE WITH CRIMINAL OFFENSES INTO OUR COMMUNITIES WHERE THEY CAN LIVE, LEARN, WORK AND THRIVE. IN 2022, A TOTAL OF 69 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED EDUCATION OR ONE ON ONE LEGAL ASSISTANCE IN FILING FOR EXPUNGEMENTS.
