SHALVA OFFERS CONFIDENTIAL, TRAUMA INFORMED DOMESTIC ABUSE COUNSELING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR THE METROPOLITAN CHICAGO JEWISH COMMUNITY IN A CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AND CARING ENVIRONMENT. OUR CLIENTS RECEIVE FREE AND INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICES FOR AS LONG AS NEEDED. OUR MASTER LEVEL THERAPISTS ARE ALL EXPERTS IN THE FIELD AND SPECIFICALLY TRAINED AND LICENSED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE COUNSELING. SHALVA ALSO PROVIDES LEGAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR COUNSELING CLIENTS. IN FY 22 WE SERVED 209 CLIENTS AND PROVIDED 1,954 COUNSELING SESSIONS, AN INCREASE OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR.
SHALVA PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING TO INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS, UNDERSTANDING OF DOMESTIC ABUSE AND ULTIMATELY CHANGE BEHAVIORS. PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED BOTH IN PERSON AND VIRTUALLY TO AUDIENCES LARGE AND SMALL. PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS WERE PROVIDED TO SOCIAL WORKERS, RABBIS, EDUCATORS AND PROFESSIONALS IN THE LEGAL, MENTAL HEALTH, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND HEALTH CARE FIELDS. THIS YEAR SHALVA EDUCATED 2,853 PARTICIPANTS THROUGH 84 PROGRAMS.OUR NEW INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM, SEVEN CIRCLES, HELPS COUPLES DISCOVER THE FOUNDATIONS FOR A LONG-TERM HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP BY GAINING A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF WHO THEY ARE, WHO THEIR PARTNER IS, AND HOW THEY INTERACT. THROUGH THIS INCLUSIVE AND DYNAMIC SELF-DIRECTED PROCESS, COUPLES COMPLETING THE SEVEN CIRCLES GAIN AWARENESS, SKILLS, AND SUPPORT TO FEEL CONNECTED AND PREPARED TO ENJOY A FULFILLING FUTURE TOGETHER. IN THIS FIRST FULL YEAR OF THE PROGRAM, 92 PEOPLE (46 COUPLES) REGISTERED FOR SEVEN CIRCLES AND 26 PEOPLE (13 COUPLES) COMPLETED THE ENTIRE PROGRAM WITH THE OTHERS COMPLETING SEVERAL OF THE PROGRAM MODULES.
