WE ARE A FOOD PANTRY. WE PURCHASE FOOD FROM THE GREATER CHICAGO FOOD DEPOSITORY AT A MUCH LOWER RATE THAN IS AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND RECEIVE SURPLUS FOOD FROM CORPORATIONS AND THE PUBLIC. DURING THE YEAR, WE ALSO RECEIVE MUCH FREE FOOD FROM CHURCHES, INDIVIDUALS, AND ORGANIZATIONS. WE GIVE THIS FOOD TO ABOUT 8,000 FAMILIES AND VARIOUS NEIGHBORING NOT-FOR-PROFIT FOOD PANTRIES AND CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS EACH MONTH. WE ALSO RECEIVE A RELATIVELY SMALL AMOUNT OF NON-FOOD DONATIONS THAT WE DISTRIBUTE TO OUR CLIENTS. WE DISTRIBUTED ABOUT $123,000 WORTH OF FOOD EACH MONTH DURING THE YEAR.
