DSCC PROVIDES SERVICES THAT PROMOTE THE ABILITY OF OLDER PEOPLE TO LIVE THEIR LIVES IN DIGNITY.

NUTRITION PROGRAM: DSCC/KSC'S NUTRITION PROGRAMS INCLUDE BOTH HOME DELIVERED MEALS (MEALS ON WHEELS) AND COMMUNITY DINING. HOME DELIVERED MEALS (MEALS ON WHEELS) ARE PACKED AND DELIVERED WEEKLY TO FRAIL AND HOMEBOUND SENIORS. IN ADDITION TO A MEAL, COMMUNITY DINING SITES PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OLDER ADULTS TO SOCIALIZE AND PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES. ALL MEALS SERVED ARE BALANCED, NUTRITIOUS, AND MEET SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS REQUIRED, SUCH AS LOW SALT, VEGETARIAN, DIABETIC, RENAL, PUREE, AND MECHANICAL SOFT. EACH MEAL IS EQUIVALENT TO 1/3 OF THE DIETARY REFERENCE INTAKE FOR ADULTS 60 AND OVER. DSCC ALSO PROVIDES HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION ON TOPICS PERTINENT TO OLDER ADULT LIFESTYLES. DURING FY2023, DSCC/KSC SERVED APPROXIMATELY 6,255 SENIORS THROUGH 521,430 MEALS. FEDERAL AND STATE GRANTS CONSIST OF THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT. WELL-BEING PROGRAM (PROVIDED WITH ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS): DSCC/KSC VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF CONDUCT A WELL-BEING CHECK WITH EACH SERVICE DELIVERY. THE WELL-BEING CHECK INCLUDES NOTING CHANGES IN A SENIOR'S PHYSICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH. DSCC/KSC COLLABORATES WITH EVERY MUNICIPALITY AND TOWNSHIP IN DUPAGE AND KANE COUNTY TO ACCOUNT FOR EVERY "MISSING" SENIOR (SENIOR NOT HOME WHEN THEY ARE EXPECTED TO BE) BY THE END OF THE DAY. DSCC/KSC'S WELL BEING CHECKS HAVE BEEN CREDITED WITH SAVING THE LIVES OF NUMEROUS OLDER ADULTS. DURING FY2023, DSCC/KSC PERFORMED 326,800 WELL-BEING CHECKS.

IN CASES WHERE HOMES REQUIRELARGER REPAIR SERVICES, DSCC/KSC OFFERS ASSESSMENTS AND PROVIDES CONTRACTOR REFERRALS. IN THE YARD SERVICES COMPONENT OF THE HOME MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, GROUPS OF VOLUNTEERS HELP SENIORS WITH VARIOUS OUTSIDE CHORES AND YARD TASKS. DURING FY2023, DSCC/KSC PROVIDED 420 HOME AND YARD SERVICES. WELL-BEING PROGRAM (PROVIDED WITH ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS): DSCC/KSC VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF CONDUCT A WELL-BEING CHECK WITH EACH SERVICE DELIVERY. THE WELL-BEING CHECK INCLUDES NOTING CHANGES IN A SENIOR'S PHYSICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH.
