THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION (NCA) ADVANCES COMMUNICATION AS THE DISCIPLINE THAT STUDIES ALL FORMS, MODES, MEDIA, AND CONSEQUENCES OF COMMUNICATION THROUGH HUMANISTIC, SOCIAL SCIENTIFIC AND AESTHETIC INQUIRY. THE NCA SERVES THE SCHOLARS, TEACHERS AND PRACTITIONERS WHO ARE ITS MEMBERS BY ENABLING AND SUPPORTING THEIR PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS IN RESEARCH AND TEACHING. DEDICATED TO FOSTERING AND PROMOTING FREE AND ETHICAL COMMUNICATION. THE NCA PROMOTES THE WIDESPREAD APPRECIATION OF THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LIFE, THE APPLICATION OF COMPETENT COMMUNICATION TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF HUMAN LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS, AND THE USE OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT COMMUNICATION TO SOLVE HUMAN PROBLEMS.

NATIONAL CONVENTION: NCA PRODUCES AN ANNUAL CONVENTION FOR APPROXIMATELY 5,000 COMMUNICATION SCHOLARS. THE CONVENTION INCLUDES OVER 1,200 FORMAL EDUCATION SESSIONS AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING.
ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES AND MEMBERSHIP: MEMBERSHIPS IN NCA ALLOWS FOR PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION OF SCHOLARS, AND THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A NUMBER OF RELEVANT RESOURCES INCLUDING CAREER SERVICES, SUPPORT FOR PEDAGOGY, SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH, AND AWARDS, AMONG OTHERS.
NCA PARTNERS WITH ROUTLEDGE/TAYLOR AND FRANCIS TO PUBLISH ELEVEN ACADEMIC JOURNALS INCLUDING COMMUNICATION AND CRITICAL/CULTURAL STUDIES, COMMUNICATION EDUCATION, COMMUNICATION MONOGRAPHS, COMMUNICATION TEACHER, CRITICAL STUDIES IN MEDIA COMMUNICATION, FIRST AMENDMENT STUDIES, JOURNAL OF APPLIED COMMUNICATION RESEARCH, JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL AND INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION, QUARTERLY JOURNAL OF SPEECH, REVIEW OF COMMUNICATION, AND TEXT AND PERFORMANCE QUARTERLY.
