BREAKING BARRIERS IS A LOCAL NON PROFIT BASED IN MILWAUKEE SERVING THE POPULATION OF YOUTH, YOUNG ADULTS, AND ADULTS WHO HAVE BEEN SYSTEMICALLY AND DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY INCARCERATION. WE COMBINE COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ORGANIZERS WHO WANT TO WORK TO PROVIDE SERVICES ON A MICRO AND MACRO LEVEL FOR INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES WHO ARE FACING SOCIETAL BARRIERS TO SUCCESS.

CIRCLES OF SUPPORT: WE HAD TWICE WEEKLY MEETINGS WITH PEOPLE RETURNING FROM INCARCERATION PROVIDING EMOTIONAL AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT FOR THAT FRAGILE AND DIFFICULT PERIOD.


ALL OF US OR NONE: A PROGRAM OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR PEOPLE IMPACTED BY INCARCERATION. THESE MEETINGS CONVENE WEEKLY.


MY SISTERS REUNITED: A LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN IMPACTED BY INCARCERATION. IN ADDITION TO PARTICIPATING IN THE AOUON MEETINGS. THESE WOMEN ALSO MEET INDEPENDENTLY, TO PURSUE ISSUES SPECIFIC TO WOMEN.
