INDIANA LIBRARY FEDERATION LEADS, EDUCATES AND ADVOCATES TO ADVANCE LIBRARY SERVICES FOR THE BENEFIT OF INDIANA RESIDENTS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCES: THE FEDERATION HOLDS A THREE-DAY MAJOR CONFERENCE WITH APPROXIMATELY 110 SESSIONS FOR 700 ATTENDEES AND INCLUDES MORE THAN 70 VENDOR EXHIBITORS. THE FEDERATION HOLDS SEVERAL SHORTER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCES, INCLUDING SEVERAL ONE-DAY WORKSHOPS TO BUILD SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR STAFF ACROSS ALL LIBRARY TYPES AND A TWO-DAY SPECIALTY CONFERENCE FOR CHILDREN, TEEN AND SCHOOL LIBRARIANS. THE CHILDREN AND TEEN DIVISION CONFERENCE INCLUDES MORE THAN 20 SESSIONS AND 10 VENDOR EXHIBITORS FOR OVER 200 ATTENDEES.


OTHER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: THE FEDERATION PROVIDES SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS INCLUDING AWARDS AND HONORS, ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS TO PURSUE LIBRARIANSHIP, BOOK AWARD PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS. THE FEDERATION'S BOOK AWARD PROGRAMS PROMOTE RECREATIONAL READING AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE AND INCLUDE THE YOUNG HOOSIER BOOK AWARD PROGRAM, THE ELIOT ROSEWATER HIGH SCHOOL BOOK AWARD AND THE READ ALOUD TOO GOOD TO MISS AWARD. IN 2019, SPECIAL PROJECTS INCLUDED THE "I LOVE MY LIBRARY" YARD SIGN AND "I LOVE LIBRARIES" LICENSE PLATE CAMPAIGNS.


ADVOCACY PROGRAM: THE FEDERATION'S ADVOCACY PROGRAM MONITORS ADMINISTRATIVE AND LEGISLATIVE ISSUES THAT AFFECT LIBRARIES, CONVENES MEMBERS AND STAKEHOLDERS TO DISCUSS ISSUES AND COMMUNICATES WITH POLICYMAKERS, INFLUENCERS AND LIBRARY SUPPORTERS.


MEMBER SERVICES: THE FEDERATION PROVIDES SERVICES TO MEMBERS, INCLUDING DOWNLOADABLE TOOLKITS AND GUIDES, BEST-PRACTICE SHARING RESOURCES AND FACILITATED SESSIONS FOR NETWORKING AND ENGAGEMENT. THE FEDERATION CONNECTS LIBRARIES AND LIBRARY STAFF-WITHIN AND ACROSS LIBRARY TYPES, GEOGRAPHY, POSITIONS AND INTERESTS.
