THE MISSION OF WEATHERVANE COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE IS TO PRODUCE HIGH-QUALITY THEATER WITH VOLUNTEER ARTISTS, DESIGNERS, AND TECHNICIANS UNDER PROFESSIONAL DIRECTION, PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THEATER ARTS AND APPRECIATION, AND ENGAGE AND ENTERTAIN ITS AUDIENCE AND CONSTITUENTS TO ENRICH THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN NORTHEAST OHIO.

PROVIDE LIVE THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES WITH VOLUNTEER ACTING AND PRODUCTION SERVICES. THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE PRODUCING A FULL SEASON OF PLAYS AND MUSICALS GUIDED BY PROFESSIONAL GUEST DIRECTORS AND PROVIDING ONSTAGE AND BACKSTAGE EXPERIENCES FOR VOLUNTEER ACTORS AND TECHNICAL STAFF. DUE TO STATE OF OHIO HEALTH ORDERS, WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE SHIFTED PRODUCTION TO RECORDED VIDEOS, MADE AVAILABLE TO AUDIENCES FREE OF CHARGE VIA YOUTUBE, AND HAVE BEGUN THE PROCESS OF RETURNING TO A FULL SLATE OF PRODUCTION AS OF JULY 31, 2021.
WEATHERVANES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING REACHES OVER 9,000 CHILDREN IN NORTHEAST OHIO AND BEYOND THROUGH ON AND OFF-SITE PROGRAMMING. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE ON-SITE CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND MASTER CLASSES IN ADDITION TO OFF-SITE OUTREACH PROGRAMS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. WE ALSO INTRODUCED VIRTUAL CLASSES, CAMPS, AND WORKSHOPS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN ORDER TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS IN A SAFE AND ENGAGING MANNER. VIRTUAL PROGRAMS SERVED STUDENTS FROM ALL PARTS OF OHIO IN ADDITION TO STUDENTS LIVING AS FAR AWAY AS TEXAS. CLASSES OFFERED INCLUDE ACTING, IMPROVISATION, AUDITIONING, DANCE, VISUAL ARTS, VOCAL TRAINING, MUSICAL THEATRE, AND MORE FOR AGES 3 AND UP. CLASSES ARE PROVIDED FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS AT THE BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE, AND ADVANCED LEVELS. WEATHERVANES CORE CLASS CURRICULUM PROVIDES EVERY STUDENT WITH EXCEPTIONAL, CONSISTENT, DRAMATIC TRAINING WHILE MEETING THE STATE ACADEMIC BENCHMARKS WITHIN THE APPLIED FINE ART.
