GREATER CLEVELAND SPORTS HALL OF FAME TAKES PRIDE IN RECOGNIZING THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE FASHIONED THIS AREA'S REMARKABLE ATHLETIC REPUTATION.ELIGIBILITY FOR ELECTION TO THE HALL IS RESTRICTED TO THOSE PERSONS OUTSTANDING IN THEIR SPORT WHO ARE CONSIDERED GREATER CLEVELANDERS, DEFINED AS THE COUNTIES OF ASHTABULA, CUYAHOGA, GEAUGA, LAKE, LORAIN, MEDINA, PORTAGE, AND SUMMIT, AND WHO (1) WERE RAISED IN GREATER CLEVELAND OR (2) CAME FROM OTHER AREAS TO BECOME RESIDENTS OF GREATER CLEVELAND. ALL MUST HAVE BEEN RETIRED FROM THEIR SPORT FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS OR, IF STILL ACTIVE, MUST HAVE COMPETED AT A QUALITY LEVEL IN THEIR SPORT FOR AT LEAST 12 YEARS.THE GCSHOF BOASTS MORE THAN 500 INDUCTEES ACROSS 30 SPORTS ON THE AMATEUR AND PROFESSIONAL LEVELS, SOME OF WHOM HAVE BEEN HONORED IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY.


THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND STORIES OF THE GREATER CLEVELAND SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES PROVIDE INSPIRATION FOR YOUNG ATHLETES TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS IN SPORT. THE GCSHOF FOSTERS THOSE DREAMS BY PROVIDING GRANT FUNDING TO QUALIFIED YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS IN THE GREATER CLEVELAND AREA. WE HOPE SUPPORTING YOUTH SPORTS IN OUR REGION WILL RESULT IN FUTURE HALL OF FAMERS.OUR FINANCIAL COMMITMENT, THROUGH THE JACK HERRICK YOUTH SPORTS FUND, IS INTENDED TO FUND SPECIFIC, ONE-TIME CAPITAL OR PROJECT-BASED NEEDS OF AMATEUR, NON-GOVERNMENTAL YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR REGION THAT PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH OF ALL BACKGROUNDS TO PARTICIPATE SAFELY IN SPORTS.
