FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, ALL OF THE PURCHASE AWARD WINNING ARTWORKS FROM FIFTEEN YEARS OF QUEST FOR THE WEST WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE WESTERN ART GALLERIES HIGHLIGHTING THESE NEWER ADDITIONS TO THE COLLECTION. HOOSIER HOLIDAY FAVORITE, "JINGLE RAILS: THE GREAT WESTERN ADVENTURE" EXPERIENCE CLOSED OUT THE YEAR. IN JUNE 2021, WITH THE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASKING MANDATES STILL IN PLACE, THE MUSEUM BEGAN THE TRANSITION BACK TO IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING, THOUGH LARGE-SCALE PROGRAMS LIKE JUNETEENTH AND DA DE MUERTOS ADDED OUTDOOR COMPONENTS TO SAFELY ACCOMMODATE LARGER CROWDS. PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS THROUGH THE SECOND HALF OF 2021 INCLUDED THE RETURN OF THE POPULAR VISITING / IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM, AN AWARD-WINNING SPIRIT & PLACE FESTIVAL EVENT CALLED THRUTHSGIVING: USING FOOD TO DISMANTLE A COLONIAL MYTH, AND THE RETURN OF THE POPULAR ANNUAL DA DE MUERTOS COMMUNITY CELEBRATION WITH OVER 3500 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIA A LIVESTREAM.
