PROVIDING AID TO HOSPITALIZED AND HOMEBOUND PATIENTS AND FAMILIES, (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)PROVIDING HOUSING FOR OUT-OF-TOWN PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AS WELL AS FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS AT LOCAL AREA HOSPITALS, FULLY-STOCKED KOSHER HOSPITALITY ROOMS IN 6 LOCAL HOSPITALS, AND A FREE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM. OTHER SERVICES INCLUDE VISITATION, TRANSPORTATION, INCLUDING HANDICAP-ACCESSIBLE VAN, HEALTH EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY, SENIOR'S PROGRAMMING, AND PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND RESPITE CARE FOR THEIR FAMILIES.

BIKUR CHOLIM PROVIDES HOSPITAL AID AND ASSISTANCE TO PATIENTS IN AREA HOSPITALS, INCLUDING FOOD, TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM HOSPITALS, AND INTERPRETIVE SERVICES WHEN NEEDED. BIKUR CHOLIM ALSO ARRANGES VISITS TO PEOPLE IN HOSPITALS, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES AND TO PRIVATE HOMES. IN 2022, BIKUR CHOLIM PROVIDED 7,685 KOSHER WEEKDAY AND 9,502 SHABBAT MEALS. BIKUR CHOLIM PROVIDED 1,600 RIDES TO PEOPLE UNABLE TO MAKE THEIR OWN WAY TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. THIS YEAR WE WILL ACQUIRE A HANDICAPPED-ACCESSIBLE VAN TO AID IN OUR ABILITY TO TRANSPORT THIS PATIENT POPULATION.
BIKUR CHOLIM HAS HOSPITALITY ROOMS IN 6 MAJOR CLEVELAND AREA HOSPITALS PROVIDING MEALS, SNACKS AND BEVERAGES 24/7. THE HOSPITALITY ROOM AT THE CLEVELAND CLINIC HAD 22,785 VISITS ALONE THIS PAST YEAR.
HOUSING AND SHELTER AT THE BIKUR CHOLIM HOUSES FOR OUT-OF-TOWN PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AS WELL AS FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS AT AREA HOSPITALS. FROM JULY 1, 2021 TO JUNE 30, 2022, ACCOMMODATIONS WERE PROVIDED FOR 4,444 NIGHT STAYS.
BIKUR CHOLIM CONTINUES TO ADDRESS TO THE MEDICAL AND PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUES CONFRONTING JEWISH CLEVELAND, INCLUDING CONTINUED SUPPORT OF COVID-19 NEEDS THROUGH A VACCINATION PARTNERSHIP CAMPAIGN WITH THE MT. SINAI FOUNDATION AND THROUGH A SAFETY EVENT FOR PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN. IN ADDITION, WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW WOMEN'S HEALTH DIVISION DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A SAFE HAVEN TO ADDRESS THE MEDICAL ISSUES WOMEN FACE.PROGRAMS AND SUPPORT FOR THE ELDERLY, SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN, HOME HELP AND MEDICAL AID FOR THE INDIGENT. BIKUR CHOLIM'S GILA PROGRAM HAS BEGUN TO HOST EVENTS AGAIN POST-COVID. DURING COVID, CARE PACKAGES FOR THE ELDERLY WERE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC. THERE ARE WEEKLY PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, AND RESPITE FOR THEIR FAMILIES WHICH SERVICE ABOUT 30 SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN. IN ADDITION, PERIODIC EVENTS ARE HELD FOR THESE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES, WHICH ALSO INCLUDE APPROXIMATELY 10 YOUNG ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS AND VOLUNTEER TRAINING TAKE PLACE AS WELL.HUNDREDS OF FREE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LOANS WERE PROVIDED THROUGH OUR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT GEMACH.
