THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THE CALIFORNIA NURSE MIDWIVES ASSOCIATION HAS BEEN PUBLIC EDUCATION REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE OF INCREASING ACCESS TO MIDWIFERY CARE FOR WOMENS HEALTH. NURSE-MIDWIFERY CARE HAS BEEN SHOWN TO DECREASE THE RATE OF CESAREAN BIRTHS, DECREAASE COSTS OF CARE, INCREASE RATES OF BREASTFEEDING, AND INCREASE PATIENT SATISFACTION.
