THE SAN DIEGO ARCHAEOLOGICAL CENTER'S MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE THESE CORE PUBLIC PROGRAMS:1. CURATION OF ARTIFACTS, TO PRESERVE THE REGION'S HISTORY;2. MUSEUM EXHIBITS, TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT PAST LIFEWAYS;3. ADULT EDUCATION LECTURES AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING LECTURES, HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS AND FIELD TRIPS;4. K-12 HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS AND FIELD TRIPS, TEACHING THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD AND CRITICAL THINKING;5. INTERN PROGRAM, PROVIDED REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE IN THE IDENTIFICATION AND CURATION OF ARTIFACTS;6. UNFORTUNATELY, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC SERIOUSLY AFFECTED THE CENTER'S PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS. THE CENTER CLOSED DOORS ON MARCH 19, 2020, DURING THE BUSIEST TIME OF OUR PUBLIC CALENDAR. IN FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2021, 485 VISITORS CAME TO THE CENTER FOR EXHIBITS. 55 K-12 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS WERE HELD, SERVING 585. 14 ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS SERVED 465. THE CENTER PARTICIPATED IN ONE COMMUNITY EVENT, SERVING 85. TWO SPECIAL EVENTS WERE HELD AT THE CENTER, WITH 91 ATTENDING. 15 VOLUNTEERS DONATED 423 HOURS IN CURATION, EDUCATION AND DOCENT POSITIONS. THE CENTER NOW CURATES 1,037 ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS.
