THE SAN DIEGO ARCHAEOLOGICAL CENTER'S MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES WILL CONTINUE WITH CORE PUBLIC PROGRAMS:CURATION OF ARTIFACTS, TO PRESERVE THE REGIONS HISTORYMUSEUM EXHIBITS, TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT PAST LIFEWAYSADULT EDUCATION, TO PROVIDE LECTURES AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS AND LOCAL EXCURSIONSYOUTH EDUCATION, TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS AND FIELD TRIPS, TEACHING THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD AND CRITICAL THINKINGINTERN PROGRAM, TO GIVE REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE IN THE IDENTIFICATION AND CURATION OF ARTIFACTS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM, TO GIVE PEOPLE A MEANINGFUL AND FULFILLING EXPERIENCE

DURING FY22, THE CENTER BOUNCED BACK FROM THE PREVIOUS YEARS COVID CLOSURES. THE CENTER SERVED 2,664, PEOPLE IN 168 EDUCATIONAL AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. OFFERING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ON VIRTUAL PLATFORMS ALLOWED THE CENTER TO EXPAND ITS REACH PAST THE LOCAL REGION.THERE WERE OVER 1,000 VISITORS TO THE MUSEUM, WHICH ALIGNS WITH PRE-COVID VISITATION NUMBERS. FIFTY-NINE ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS AND INTERNS DONATED 3,207 HOURS IN COLLECTIONS, LIBRARY, GIS, EDUCATION, AND ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS. THE CENTER NOW CURATES 1,364 ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS.
