PUBLIC EVENTS: PRS PRESENTS A DIVERSE RANGE OF PUBLIC CULTURAL ARTS PROGRAMS INCLUDING FILM SCREENINGS, LIVE MUSIC CONCERTS, SPECIAL LECTURES AND AUTHOR TALKS, PERFORMANCE ART AND THEATRE EVENTS, WORKSHOPS, MAGIC LANTERN SHOWS, SPECIAL CLASSES (BUTOH DANCE, SOMATIC MOVEMENT, SOUND BATHS) AND MORE. THE EMPHASIS OF THIS PROGRAMMING IS THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN THE CREATIVE ARTS AND METAPHYSICS, MYTHOLOGY, PHILOSOPHY AND MYSTICISM, AND THE EVENTS DRAW ON A VERY WIDE RANGE OF LOS ANGELES AREA ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, AUTHORS, FILMMAKERS, PERFORMERS, HISTORIANS AND LECTURERS AND MORE, DISCUSSING AND CELEBRATING ON AN EQUALLY WIDE RANGE OF TOPICSAND COMMUNITIES (LGBTQ+ STUDIES, LATINO, JEWISH-AMERICAN, ASIAN-AMERICAN, CARRIBEAN-AMERICAN). IN 2023, PRS PRESENTED A TOTAL OF 421 PUBLIC EVENTS FOR OVER 12,000 VISITORS, AND CO-PRESENTED WITH A NUMBER OF L.A. AREA NONPROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDE DUBLAB, L.A. PHILHARMONIC, FLOATING, THEATRE DYBBUK, LACE L.A. CONTEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS, AND MANY OTHERS.2). ART GALLERY EXHIBITS IN 2023, PRS PRESENTED 8 EXHIBITIONS IN ITS HANSELL ART GALLERY BY ESTABLISHED AND EMERGING ARTISTS IN A NUMBER OF DISCIPLINES INCLUDING PAINTING, SCULPTURE, VIDEO ART, INSTALLATION ART AND MORE, INCLUDING BENJAMIN LOWDER (CENTER DIRECTOR AT THE BUCKMINSTER FULLER DOME AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY), UKRAINIAN COLLAGE ARTIST ANDRII STRAKHOV, THE GROUP EXHIBIT FEEDING THE UNSEEN: REMEDIATIONS OF EARTH FEATURING MULTIPLE L.A. AREA ARTISTS, AND MORE. EACH EXHIBIT ATTRACTED AN AVERAGE OF 200 VISITORS.3). PUBLIC LIBRARY HOURS THE PRS LIBRARY HOLDS OVER 30,000 RARE BOOKS ON AN INCREDIBLE VARIETY OF SUBJECTS INCLUDING MYTHOLOGY, ARCHAEOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY, MYSTICISM, PHILOSOPHY, L.A. CULTURAL HISTORY AND MUCH MORE. IN 2023, THE LIBRARY WAS OPEN ON THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS FOR PUBLIC RESEARCH AND STUDY FROM 12 NOON 6:00 PM, WITH AN AVERAGE OF 20 VISITORS PER DAY. THE LIBRARY ALSO HOSTS 1-3 EVENTS PER WEEK INCLUDING READING GROUPS, WORKSHOPS AND LECTURES.4).
