SAFL IS A THREE-YEAR ONLINE DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR 8 - 12 GRADE STUDENTS WHO WISH TO LEARN SAMSKRITAM (AKA SANSKRIT). THE SAFL PROGRAM HAS BEEN ACCREDITED AS A SUPPLEMENTARY EDUCATION PROGRAM BY THE ACCREDITING COMMISSION FOR SCHOOLS WESTERN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES (ACS WASC - HTTP://WWW.ACSWASC.ORG), ONE OF THE ACCREDITING AGENCIES IN THE UNITED STATES. SAFL COURSES HAVE ALSO BEEN APPROVED BY NCAA FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. NO. OF STUDENTS - 486; BOYS - 251; GIRLS - 235 100 LEVEL - 187; 200 LEVEL - 161; 300 LEVEL - 138; NO. SAMBHASHANAM TO SASTRAM IS A TWO-YEAR CERTIFICATE COURSE OFFERED IN CONJUNCTION WITH KKSU (KAVIKULAGURU KALIDASA SANSKRIT UNIVERSITY). THIS COURSE OFFERS A STRUCTURED LEARNING OPPORTUNITY TO STUDENTS. THERE ARE FOUR LEVELS (SAMBHASHANAM, BHASHA, PRAGATA-BHASHA, SASTRAM). AT THE END OF EACH LEVEL STUDENTS WILL TAKE A TEST, WRITTEN AS WELL AS ORAL AND ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL. THIS COURSE OFFERS A COMPREHENSIVE INTRODUCTION TO VARIOUS TOPICS. THE COURSE CULMINATES WITH A HIGH-LEVEL INTRODUCTION TO ONE OF THE SASTRAS. STUDENTS WILL THEN BE READY TO TAKE UP ADVANCED STUDIES OF THEIR FAVORITE TOPICS. KOVIDA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - THE FOUNDATION FOR THE ADULT TRACK IS THROUGH FOUR LEVELS OF COURSES THAT ARE DESIGNED USING ENGLISH AS A MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION IN THE EARLY STAGES. THESE FOUR LEVELS COULD LEAD TO CERTIFICATIONS. WHILE THE MATERIAL IS PREPARED AS A SELF-STUDY COURSE, MANY OPT FOR OUR TUTORIAL CLASSES, WHERE A STRUCTURED CLASSROOM SETTING IS PROVIDED. SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS (SELF-STUDY OR THROUGH TUTORIAL CLASSES) WOULD GAIN ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE TO CONTINUE ON TO ADVANCED CLASSES OFFERD BY VARIOUS OTHER INSTITUTIONS. THE FOUR LEVELS ARE: PRAVESAH, PARICAYAH,SIKSA, KOVIDAH THESE LEVELS ARE DESIGNED TO MAKE A GRADUAL PROGRESSION FROM BASIC LANGUAGE SKILLS TO BECOMING A FLUENT SPEAKER. SUPERVISED EXAMINATIONS ARE ALSO CONDUCTED FOR EACH LEVEL, TWICE A YEAR AND STUDENTS CAN RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY WHEN THEY PASS THE EXAM.
SAMSKRITA-KENDRAM IS A UNIQUE SBUSA INITIATIVE TO ENGAGE FAMILIES ACROSS ASIAN INDIAN COMMUNITIES IN THE US WHERE BOTH CHILDREN AND PARENTS LEARN SPOKEN SAMSKRIT. CURRENTLY 43 SAMSKRITA-KENDRAMS ARE RUN BY OVER 300 VOLUNTEERS IN THE US. SAMSKRIT CLASSES HELD WEEKLY FOR CHILDREN (KINDERGARTEN TO 7TH GRADE) THEIR PARENTS THROUGH THIS UNIQUE INITIATIVE WITH THE SUPPORT OF OUR VOLUNTEERS. OVER 2500 CHILDREN AND 2000 ADULTS LEARN SAMSKRIT AS A SPOKEN LANGUAGE IN SAMSKRITA-KENDRAMS
