EMERGENCY FOOD SUPPORT - DUE TO THE UNPRECEDENTED IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON THE FOOD SECURITY OF OUR COMMUNITIES, WE SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASED THE LEVEL OF SUPPORT FOR EMERGENCY FOOD. THIS SUPPORT INCLUDED DONATIONS TO EMERGENCY FOOD BANKS, LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR FOOD DELIVERY, DIRECT DONATIONS OF FOOD STUFFS AS WELL AS VOLUNTEER PARTICIPATION IN FOOD BANKS DELIVERING FOOD TO LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES.


OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE ROTARY PROGRAMS INCLUDING POLIO PLUS AND ALZHEIMER'S, CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION, COVID-19 VACCINATION SUPPORT, EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AND OTHER


BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES - THE ROTARY CLUB OF DANIEL ISLAND SUPPORTS BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES. THE PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED GRANTS TO THE CREATION OF A CHILDREN'S WATERFRONT PARK, WHICH INCLUDED ACCESSIBLE EQUIPMENT. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SPONSORED FOUR QUARTERLY SPEAKERS SERIES FEATURING COMMUNITY LEADERS ON TOPICS OF INTEREST AND OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE RCDI FOUNDATION BUILT OVER 120 STUDENT DESKS FOR TWO LOCAL LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES TO SUPPORT AT-HOME DISTANCE LEARNING DURING THE PANDEMIC.


SUPPORTING MOTHERS AND CHILDREN - PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE SUPPLY OF COMPUTING DEVICES TO LOW INCOME CHILDREN TO SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE AT-HOME LEARNING. DIAPERS AND OTHER INFANT GOODS WERE PROVIDED DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC TO ALLOW KINSHIP RELATIVES TO MAINTAIN GUARDIANSHIP OF ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN WHO WOULD OTHERWISE ENTER THE FOSTER SYSTEM. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS ALSO INCLUDE THE PROVISION TO CHILDREN OF LOW INCOME HOUSEHOLDS WITH BACKPACKS OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES. DONATIONS ENABLED ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE BASIC MOTHER AND INFANT MEDICAL CARE TO NEEDY FAMILIES. THE RCDI FOUNDATION ALSO ENABLED A DECREASE IN CHILDHOOD CANCER IN TANZANIA THROUGH AN EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH TO MEDICAL PROVIDERS IN LOCAL VILLAGES.
