THE OHIO HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION (OHA) EXISTS TO COLLABORATE WITH MEMBER HOSPITALS AND HEALTH SYSTEMS TO ENSURE A HEALTHY OHIO.

AS THE UNITED VOICE FOR OHIO'S 250 HOSPITALS AND 15 HEALTH SYSTEMS, THE OHIO HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION LEVERAGES DATA AND EXPERTISE TO BE THE LEADER IN INFLUENCING HEALTH POLICY, DRIVING QUALITY IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES AND ADVOCATING FOR ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY TO SERVE ITS DIVERSE MEMBERSHIP. OHA LIVES ITS MISSION TO COLLABORATE WITH MEMBER HOSPITALS AND HEALTH SYSTEMS TO ENSURE A HEALTHY OHIO. THE ASSOCIATION IS ACTIVELY COMPLETING A THREE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN WITH INITIATIVES FOCUSING ON: ADVOCACY; PATIENT SAFETY AND HEALTH CARE QUALITY; AND ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY. OHA REMAINED A STRATEGIC PARTNER AND ADVOCATE FOR HOSPITALS DURING THE SECOND YEAR OF THE GLOBAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR VACCINATIONS AND PREVENTATIVE HEALTH MEASURES. THE ASSOCIATION CREATED A COVID-19 HOSPITALIZATION DASHBOARD IN LATE 2020 THAT WAS A SOURCE OF INFORMATION FOR THE PUBLIC TO ACCESS REAL-TIME DATA RELATED TO HOSPITALIZATION TRENDS REGIONALLY AND LOCALLY IN OHIO FOR 2021. OHA BOLDLY ADVOCATED ON BEHALF OF MEMBER HOSPITALS TO ENSURE THE NEW 2022-2023 STATE OPERATING BUDGET PROVIDES POLICIES AND PRIORITIES VITAL TO HOSPITALS' MISSION OF CARE. THE ASSOCIATION CREATED NEW FINANCIAL DASHBOARDS TO SUPPORT MEMBERS FINANCIAL PLANNING AND DECISION MAKING. IN A CHALLENGING YEAR, MEMBERS BENEFITED FROM OHA'S MENU OF INNOVATIVE RESOURCES TO HELP HOSPITALS MAKE CRITICAL BUSINESS DECISIONS, BOOST EFFICIENCY AND LOWER COSTS BY LEVERAGING THE ASSOCIATION'S COMPREHENSIVE DATA SERVICES AND GROUP PURCHASING POWER ON ENERGY PROCUREMENT, WORKERS' COMPENSATION COVERAGE AND MANAGEMENT OF UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS. OHA CREATES A BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION FOR THE 251,200 HEALTH CARE WORKERS WORKING IN OHIO HOSPITALS, THE 36.9 MILLION HOSPITAL PATIENT ENCOUNTERS IN 2021 AND THEIR MORE THAN $93 BILLION IMPACT ON OHIO'S ECONOMY. OHA ASSISTS MEMBERS WITH THEIR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE TO PATIENTS AND PROGRAMMING IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. ADDITIONALLY, OHA WORKS ON BEHALF OF MEMBERS THROUGH LEADERSHIP IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC POLICY, IN THE REPRESENTATION AND ADVOCACY OF HOSPITAL AND HEALTH CARE INTERESTS, AND IN THE PROVISION OF SERVICES THAT ASSIST HOSPITALS IN MEETING HEALTH CARE NEEDS AND IMPROVING THE HEALTH STATUS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. OHA CONTINUED COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY THROUGH ITS INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH INNOVATION AND THE OHIO PATIENT SAFETY INSTITUTE; CONTINUED A STATEWIDE HOSPITAL PROGRAM TO REDUCE INFANT MORTALITY THROUGH SAFE SLEEP, ELIMINATING EARLY ELECTIVE DELIVERIES AND PROMOTING BREASTFEEDING; LED ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY INITIATIVES WITH HOSPITALS TO ENSURE A CLEANER AND HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT; AND WORKED TO PRESERVE THE FINANCIAL STABILITY OF HOSPITALS. OHA HAS BEEN THE SINGLE STATEWIDE ENTITY REPRESENTING HOSPITALS IN OHIO SINCE 1915, SERVING A UNIQUE ROLE AS A TRUSTED FORUM IN WHICH HOSPITALS COME TOGETHER FOR INCREASED UNDERSTANDING AND RESOLUTION OF ISSUES OF CONCERN THROUGHOUT THE STATE. FOR EVERY $1 IN OHA MEMBERSHIP DUES OHIO HOSPITALS INVESTED IN 2021, MEMBERS RECEIVED $235 IN RETURN.
