RESUCED HORSES RECEIVE SPECIALIZED VETERINARY CARE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS TO SEVERAL MONTHS. DURING THIS TIME, THE RESCUED HORSE IS WORKED WITH TO ADAPT AND ADJUST TO HUMAN CONTACT AND A NEW DIET. ONCE STRONG AND HEALTHY, A RESCUED HORSE IS GENTLED AND TRAINED. IF IT IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE PARTICULAR RESCUED HORSE, THE FUND ENROLLS THE HORSE INTO ITS ADOPTION PROGRAM. THE FUND OPERATES AN EDUCATIONAL CENTER AND GIFT SHOP OPEN YEAR-ROUND TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THIS HIGHLY THREATENED BREED, EMPHASIZING THEIR HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE.
