FORM 990, PART I, LINE I, DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION MISSION: ASHTABULA COUNTY. AFTER SCHOOL DISCOVERY (ASD) SUPPORTS CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES IN BECOMING LIFE-LONG LEARNERS AND PROVIDES/PROMOTES ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND LEARNING INITIATIVES THAT STIMULATE YOUNG MINDS AND SUPPORTS A CHILD'S LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT.

Part 3 - Line 4a

STRIVE 4 SUCCESS IS A FREE 6 WEEK PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES ACADEMIC COACHING TO STUDENTS IN SECOND GRADE THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE, AT NO COST TO THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN. STUDENTS IN THE ASHTABULA AREA CITY SCHOOLS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. THE STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES THAT WILL STRENGTHEN THEIR LANGUAGE AND MATH SKILLS.


OTHER PROGRAMS: CLUB 212 IS AN AFTER SCHOOL ACADEMIC COACHING AND HOMEWORK HELP PROGRAM AT LAKESIDE JR HIGH SCHOOL, OFFERED AT NO CHARGE TO OUR AACS FAMILIES. CLUB 212 WORKS WITH STUDENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND ENGAGE THEM IN FUN CLASSES THAT SUPPORT THEIR LIFE SKILL DEVELOPMENT. WATERWAYS IS A TWO-DAY OUTDOOR LEARNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE LEARNING PROGRAM. THE SUMMER OF DISCOVERY PROGRAM WILL CONTINUE THE LEARNING, FOR STUDENTS WHO COMPLETED FIRST THROUGH 3RD GRADE IN THE ASHTABULA AREA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT,BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND SOCIALLY. EXPENSES 39670.00 INCLUDING GRANTS OF 0. REVENUE 37535.00.


DISCOVERY COVE IS A BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER ADMINISTERED BY ASD, THIS SERVICE IS FEE BASED. THE SERVICES SHALL CONSIST OF A BLEND OF AGE APPROPRIATE EDUCATIONAL, SOCIAL, AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. THE PROGRAM IS COMPLIMENTARY TO SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN'S HOME AND SCHOOL EXPERIENCES AND IS EFFECTIVE IN MEETING THEIR INDIVIDUAL, DEVELOPMENTAL, AND TIME OF DAY NEEDS.


KINDER COVE IS A HALF-DAY, FEE BASED, ENRICHMENT PROGRAM OFFERED BY ASD AND OPEN TO ANY PRE-SCHOOL CHILD WHO WILL ATTEND PRE-SCHOOL AT MICHIGAN PRIMARY SCHOOL AT THE LAKESIDE ELEMENTARY CAMPUS. OUR CURRICULUM WILL ENHANCE YOUR CHILD'S ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IN A WARM, SAFE ENVIRONMENT.
