THE ALLEN AND ALICE STOKES NATURE CENTER PROVIDES A FACILITY AND PROGRAMMING WHERE STUDENTS OF ALL AGES CAN EXPLORE AND LEARN ABOUT NATURE IN THE INTERMOUNTAIN WESTERN UNITED STATES. IT OPERATES AN INTERPRETIVE CENTER FACILITY IN THE CACHE NATIONAL FOREST NEAR LOGAN UTAH. IT PROVIDES NATURE AND SCIENCE-RELATED WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOL CLASSES, A VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL NATURE WALKS, STORY TIME, A NATURE PRESCHOOL, SUMMER DAY CAMPS FOR YOUTH, AS WELL AS WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS. PRIMARY SOURCES OF SUPPORT ARE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, FOUNDATIONS, AND THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE. FUNDRAISING SUPPORT AND EXPENSES PRIMARILY RESULT FROM AN ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER AND AUCTION.

THE ALLEN & ALICE STOKES NATURE CENTER OFFERS MULTIPLE LOW-COST AND/OR FREE PROGRAMS AIMED AT SERVING ALL WHO LIVE, WORK IN, OR VISIT CACHE VALLEY. THESE INCLUDE THE STATE'S FIRST AND LONGEST RUNNING NATURE PRESCHOOL WHICH BLENDS OUTDOOR LEARNING WITH MONTESSORI PRINCIPLES. STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIOS ARE THE LOWEST OF ANY PRESCHOOL PROGRAM IN CACHE VALLEY AT 4:1, AND CURRICULA ARE STUDENT-DRIVEN TO MAXIMIZE ENGAGEMENT AND LEARNING.FOR OLDER STUDENTS, STOKES PROVIDES SCHOOL PROGRAMS WHICH ALIGN UTAH STATE SEED STANDARDS WITH LOCAL NATURE EXPLORATION FOR PRE K-12 STUDENTS. STUDENTS LEARN OUTDOORS AND PROGRAM PRICING IS KEPT LOW TO MAXIMIZE ACCESS, INCLUDING THROUGH STOKES' TRANSPORTATION SCHOLARSHIPS WHICH PROVIDE FULL FUNDING FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS.ADDITIONALLY, STOKES COMMUNITY PROGRAMS PROVIDE OUTDOOR, RECREATION, SCIENCE, AND SUSTAINABILITY SKILLS TO LEARNERS OF ALL AGES. PROGRAMS ARE DIVERSE AND SHIFT WITH THE SEASONS, INCLUDING SUCH PROGRAMS AS MAPLE TAPPING, FLY-TYING, SUMMER CAMPS FOR 1ST-12TH GRADERS, SCIENTIFIC ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOPS, AND GUIDED HIKES IN THE NATIONAL FOREST AMONG OTHERS.
