THE PURPOSE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION COUNCIL OF OHIO (EECO) IS TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR OHIO EDUCATORS AND SOUND SCIENCE EDUCATION FOR OHIO STUDENTS. WITH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OHIO ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FUND (OEEF), EECO IS ABLE TO PROVIDE EDUCATION THROUGH A REGIONAL STRUCTURE IN OHIO. WE SEE OVER 30,000 STUDENTS AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR OVER 7,000 EDUCATORS ANNUALLY. THE MAIN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THAT EECO AND OEEF IS PROMOTING IN OHIO IS A ENVIRONMENTAL STEM CAREER PROGRAM THAT TARGETS OHIO EDUCATORS AS WELL AS MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS. EECO CONTINUES TO PROVIDE OTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PREK-COLLEGE STUDENTS AS WELL AS EDUCATION FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IT IS THE INTENTION OF EECO THAT ALL OHIOANS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY LITERATE AND ENGAGE IN DECISION MAKING THAT ENSURES SUSTAINABILITY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. 2)COMPLETED 22 WORKSHOPS AND SPECIAL EVENTS WITH OVER 30,000 PARTICIPANTS3)PUBLISHED AND DISPERSED 4 NEWSLATTERS ( FALL, WINTER, SPRING AND FALL) AND A GREENPAPER.THESE GO OUT TO OVER 10,000 EDUCATORS IN OHIO.4)ALL REGIONS HAVE MADE PROPOSALS TO UNDERSERVED AUDIENCES FOR THE OHIO EPE-OEEF.5)REGIONAL DIRECTORS HAVE CREATED TEAMS THAT ADDRESS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FOR THEIR REGIONS. THESE INCLUDE URBAN AND MINORITY, SOCIAL STUDIES, EARLY CHILDHOOD, HIGH SCHOOL AND LANGUAGE ARTS, ADULT AUDIENCES AND PRESERVICE TEACHER EDUCATION FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS.
