IN JUNE A CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, NY THAT BROUGHT TOGETHER INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN EXPERTS IN THE FIELD TO EVALUATE THE IMPACT OF UNIQUE FEATURES AND OUTCOME FOR PEDIATRIC VENTRICULAR ASSIST DEVICE (VAD) SUPPORT; COMPARE THE BENEFIT AND RISKS OF CURRENT AND NEW EXTRACORPOREAL LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS (ECLS); DETERMINE HOW AND WHERE TO IMPLEMENT CUTTING EDGE BIOENGINEERING APPROACH IN THIER PRACTICE OF PEDIATRIC CARDIOVASCULA MEDICINE; AND CRITIQUE NEW AND CURRENT DEVICES AND CITE AREAS WHERE ADDITIONAL TRAINING IS REQUIRED.
