THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES NECESSARY TRAINING TO PROFESSIONALS WITHIN THE INDUSTRY THAT ALLOW THEM TO BE EXPERT WITNESSES AND PROVIDE TESTIMONY, AS NEEDED. THE EXPERT WITNESS COURTROOM TESTIMONY COURSE GOES THROUGH WHAT IT'S LIKE TO TESTIFY AS AN EXPERT WITNESS IN A REAL CASE. DURING THE CLASS, STUDENTS SPEND TIME WITH ATTORNEYS GIVING YOUR DEPOSITION, PREPARING FOR YOUR TESTIMONY, AS WELL AS SPENDING THE DAY IN A COURTROOM WHERE YOU WILL TAKE THE STAND FOR DIRECT EXAMINATION AND CROSS EXAMINATION. OREGON IAAI SCHEDULES ONE EXPERT WITNESS COURTROOM TESTIMONY CLASS FOR EIGHT STUDENTS EACH YEAR. IN SEPTEMBER 2021, OREGON IAAI, HELD THE 42ND ANNUAL ADVANCED ARSON TRAINING SEMINAR, WITH 75 ATTENDEES AND 24 HOURS OF TESTED CONTINUING EDUCATION OFFERED. BOTH NATIONAL AND LOCAL INSTRUCTORS ARE CONTRACTED TO PRESENT ON TOPICS WHICH CAN RANGE FROM ETHICS, BURN PATTERNS, REPORT WRITING, BEHAVIOR PROFILING, AND FIRE CODES. SEMINAR ATTENDEES ARE PRIMARILY FROM OREGON, BUT THE SEMINAR IS OPEN TO ANY INTERESTED PARTY AND WE OFTEN GET A HANDFUL OF ATTENDEES FROM OUT OF STATE.
