THE ORGANIZATION'S MAIN ACTIVITIES INCLUDE MENTORING, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS AND INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL EXCHANGES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, HOSTING SPECIAL EVENTS, BUYING TEXTBOOKS, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES IN THE MEANING OF IRC SECTION 501(C)(3).

WE RESUMED IN PERSON MEETINGS WITH OUR STUDENTS DURING THE SUMMER 2021. WE WORKED WITH SOME NEW SCHOOLS AND SOME REFERRAL AGENCIES IN NEW YORK.OUR ORGANIZATION'S EFFORT STARTED TO PAYING OFF: THIS YEAR A NUMBER OF OUR STUDENTS WERE ADMITTED TO TOP UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES. MORE STUDENTS OF INDIAN COUNTRY BENEFITED FROM OUR ACADEMIC AND MENTORING PROGRAMS THIS YEAR THAN THE YEAR BEFORE. WE CONTINUED TO GROW OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH DISTRICT 79 AND SUPPORT NON-TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TOWARDS ACHIEVING THEIR TASC/GED. WE EXPANDED MANY OF OUR PARTNERSHIPS AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HAVEN ACADEMY/NEW YORK FOUNDLING.
THIS YEAR AS WELL WE COULD NOT TRAVEL TO OUR EXCHANGE PARTNER SCHOOLS OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES DUE TO TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED BY GOVERNMENTS WORLDWIDE IN AN EFFORT TO CONTAIN THE SPREAD OF THE SARS COV-2. HOWEVER, WE CONTINUED TO COLLABORATE VIRTUALLY WITH OUR INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PARTNERS. WE ORGANIZED MUSEUM VISITS FOR OUR STUDENTS: 2 TRIPS FROM MINNESOTA, SOUTH DAKOTA AND NEW YORK TO DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA WITH 10 STUDENTS PER TRIP, WEEKLY MUSEUM TRIPS IN NEW YORK THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. WE CONTINUED OTHER BROADENING HORIZONS ACTIVITIES.
IT WASN'T SAFE TO RETURN TO REGULAR IN-PERSON COMMUNITY SERVICE AT AMSTERDAM NURSING HOME DUE TO THE ONGOING CONCERNS OF COVID-19. BUT WE HOSTED OUR ANNUAL "PIE DAY" COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY AT A SIMILAR SIZE TO PRE-PANDEMIC AND CONTINUED TO OFFER OUTDOOR COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES.COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMMING, INCLUDING WEEKLY COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL SERVICE EVENTS. PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE AT VARIOUS SITES, INCLUDING NURSING HOMES, SHELTERS, AND PUBLIC PARKS. ALL EXPENSES INCLUDING MATERIALS, TRAVEL AND MEALS ARE COVERED BY THE ORGANIZATION.
