OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS SERVE YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 0-26 FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, OFFERING VITAL SUPPORT TAILORED TO THEIR NEEDS. IN 2023, WE ENHANCED OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT AND SCHOOL ENROLLMENT SUPPORT FOR NEWLY ARRIVED STUDENTS. WE ALSO CONTINUED OUR COLLEGE PREPARATION AND GENERAL ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE. AND WE EXPANDED OUR SCHOOL SUCCESS PROGRAM, WELCOMING OUR FIRST PRE-K AND K STUDENTS INTO PRIVATE SCHOOLS. THESE CHILDREN RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMIC AND PASTORAL SUPPORT, ENSURING THEY THRIVE IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL JOURNEYS.PROJECT ROUSSEAUS STUDENT NEEDS PILLAR OFFERS COMPREHENSIVE, HOLISTIC SUPPORT TO STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS INCLUDED HELPING FAMILIES AND YOUNG PEOPLE NAVIGATE THE SHELTER SYSTEM, HEALTHCARE SERVICES, AND VARIOUS SOCIAL SUPPORT RESOURCES.
WE RECEIVED RECOGNITION FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO PROVIDE FREE IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN LATE 2022. IN 2023, WE CONCENTRATED SIGNIFICANTLY ON ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS ARRIVING IN NEW YORK CITY SEEKING ASYLUM AND OTHER FORMS OF RELIEF. OUR EFFORTS INCLUDED PROVIDING FREE, FULL-SCOPE LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR FAMILIES AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THE STRONGEST CLAIMS TO ASYLUM AND PROVIDING LIMITED SCOPE REPRESENTATION FOR THOSE APPLYING FOR TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS.
OUR BROADENING HORIZONS PILLAR CONTINUED TO PROVIDE ENRICHING LOCAL FIELD TRIPS TO MUSEUMS, SPORTS GAMES, AND MORE, WITH A STRONG EMPHASIS ON HELPING MIGRANT STUDENTS BUILD CONFIDENCE AND IMPROVE THEIR ENGLISH SKILLS AS THEY NAVIGATE THEIR NEW HOMETOWN. ADDITIONALLY, WE SUCCESSFULLY RESUMED OUR INTERNATIONAL BROADENING HORIZONS PROGRAM POST-COVID, MARKING OUR FIRST EXCHANGE SINCE 2019. IN SPRING 2023, STUDENTS TRAVELED TO LONDON, WHERE THEY IMMERSED THEMSELVES IN BRITISH CULTURE AND POLITICS, BROADENING THEIR GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE.
