DIAPER AND SUPPLIES DISTRIBUTION:GREATER DC DIAPER BANK (GDCDB) IS PLEASED TO SHARE THAT IN 2021, WE SERVED 40,000 BABIES AND 32,000 FAMILIES ACROSS THE DC METRO AREA WITH 9.5 MILLION DIAPERS; $500,000 WORTH OF BABY PANTRY ITEMS LIKE FORMULA, BABY FOOD AND OTHER HYGIENE ITEMS; $200,000 IN NEW BABY GEAR LIKE STROLLERS, CAR SEATS, AND CRIBS TO HELP PROMOTE SAFE SLEEP, SAFE PLAY, AND SAFE TRAVEL; AND 225,195 PERIOD PRODUCTS.
GOODS FOR GOODS PROGRAM:GOODS FOR GOOD IS GRASSROOTS, COMMUNITY-BASED NONPROFIT THAT HARNESSES THE POWER OF COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TO SUPPORT OTHER LOCAL NONPROFITS IN PROVIDING CRITICAL CARE TO THE CITY'S MOST VULNERABLE THROUGH HOUSING/SHELTER, FOOD, HEALTH, AS WELL AS VARIOUS LIFE ENRICHMENTS. WE SERVE AS A LIAISON BETWEEN COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUSINESSES LOOKING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, AND THOSE ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES FOR POPULATIONS GREATLY IN NEED. RESULTS OF PROJECTS 2021: - 10 TEMPORARY HOUSING APARTMENTS GOODS FOR GOOD VOLUNTEERS HELPED READY FOR FAMILIES TRANSITIONING FROM HOMELESSNESS. 50 BIKES (ALONG WITH HELMETS, LOCKS, ETC.) DONATED AND GIVEN DIRECTLY TO CHILDREN AND ADULTS IN NEED IN SOUTHEAST DC. - 55 CHILDREN OF FAMILIES STRUGGLING WITH HOUSING AND UNEMPLOYMENT WHO WERE PROVIDED GIFTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS.- 85VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE MADE HOME-COOKED, MADE-WITH-CARE MEALS FOR THOSE IN PARTNER SHELTERS. - 164 FAMILY MEMBERS LIVING IN PARTNER SHELTERS WHO RECEIVED A "BIRTHDAY-IN-A-BOX" (GIFTS, DECORATIONS, CAKE) TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY MILESTONES. - 210 APPRECIATION BAGS MADE AS THANKS TO FRONT LINE STAFF OF OUR PARTNER NONPROFITS. - 400 POUNDS OF FRESH PRODUCE COLLECTED AND DISTRIBUTED TO INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY. - 425 VOLUNTEERS WHO GAVE TIME, RESOURCES AND ENERGY TO GOODS FOR GOOD PROJECTS. - 550 WINTER COATS, PLUS HUNDREDS OF WINTER HATS, SCARVES AND GLOVES DONATED TO CLIENTS OF SIX NONPROFIT PARTNERS. - 3,500 SCHOOL SUPPLY ITEMS PROVIDED TO STUDENTS FROM UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. - 6,400 ESSENTIAL ITEMS (I.E. CHILDREN'S GAMES, FURNITURE, HEALTH SUPPLIES, BABY SUPPLIES, BEDROOM AND KITCHEN ITEMS) DONATED TO NONPROFIT PARTNERS. - 10,000 INDIVIDUAL MEALS MADE FOR MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY. - 13,000 TOILETRIES DONATED AND GIVEN TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS. - 30,000 BABY WIPES AND PERIOD PRODUCTS FOR FAMILIES IN NEED.
