THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO PRESERVE VACANT LAND ADJACENT TO WASHINGTON PARK IN WINSTON-SALEM FOR UTILIZATION AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE TO THE PARKS SYSTEM BY HELPING TO DEVELOP THIS SITE AS A NON-PROFIT NATURE/ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER. SPECIFICALLY THESE EFFORTS AIM TO PRESERVE AND NUTURE WILDLIFE HABITAT; REMEDIATE SITE DEGRADATION FROM PAST INDUSTRIAL USES; AND DEVELOP TRAILS, NATURAL PLAYSCAPES, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT CONNECT PEOPLE WITH NATURE.

2ND ANNUAL RUBBER DUCK REGATTA - RUBBER DUCK REGATTA WAS A COMMUITY EVENT AND FUNDRAISER THAT OFFERED NATURE-BASED EDUCATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPONSOR A RUBBER DUCK FOR A FLOAT DOWN THE SALEM CREEK WHICH RUNS THROUGH THE GATEWAY NATURE PERSERVE.
COMPLETED MASTER PLAN - THE MASTER PLAN WAS A COMPREHENSIVE SITE PLAN FOR THE GATEWAY NATURE PRESERVE THAT GEI DEVELOPED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL PROFESSIONAL DESIGN FIRM.
GATEWAY MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING - MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING WAS PROVIDED AT GATEWAY NATURE PRESERVE, AT NO CHARGE, BY VARIOUS MEMBERS OF THE EDUCATIONAL COMMITTEE AND GATEWAY VOLUNTEERS TO ENGAGE WITH MEMBERS OF COMMUNITY AND EXPOSE ADULTS AND CHILDREN TO NATURE-BASED LEARNING.
