Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
WE ARE LEADERS IN EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND RESEARCH FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY AUTOIMMUNE & AUTOIMFLAMMATORY ARTHRITIS DISEASES THROUGH PEER-LED GUIDANCE, COLLABORATION, AND RESOURCES THAT ARE DRIVEN BY PATEINT IDENTIFIED ISSUES AND PATIENT INFUSED SOLUTIONS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PROJECTS: AIARTHRITIS ADVANCES OUR MISSION WORK BY TAKING ON PROJECTS BASED ON PATIENT-REPORTED ISSUES THAT, IF SOLVED, COULD IMPROVE THEIR LIVES. DECISIONS ON WHETHER TO TAKE ON A PROJECT ARE BASED ON A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF PATIENT-REPORTED NEED, IDENTIFICATION OF A MISSING GAP (AVOIDANCE OF DUPLICATION OF EFFORTS), IDENTIFYING AND ENLISTING HELP FROM POTENTIAL COLLABORATORS TO INCREASE IMPACT, THEN SECURING FINANCIAL HELP TO IMPLEMENT ACTION. ALL PROJECTS HAVE "NO BLUEPRINT", MEANING THEY ARE ONE-OF-A-KIND, INNOVATION SOLUTIONS THAT BUILD OFF OF EXISTING SUCCESSES AND ZERO IN ON MISSING GAPS. EVERY PROJECT IS LED BY PATIENT VOICES, WITH PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS CONTRACTED, AS NEEDED.
OTHER GENERAL PROGRAMS
ADVOCACY: WE IMPACT POLICY AND LEGISLATION THROUGH PERSONAL PATIENT EXPERIENCES, COLLABORATIVE SUPPORT, AND RESEARCH ADVOCACY. OUR CEO, ADVOCACY PROGRAM LEAD, VOLUNTEER PROGRAM POLICY LEAD, AND SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC POLICY. WE ARE EXPERIENCED IN COMMUNICATING WITH LEGISLATORS AND REGULATORY OFFICIALS, WRITING LETTERS, AND PEER-TO-PEER MENTORING AND EDUCATION. WITH OUR GRANTS AND DONATIONS IN 2023 WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY DESIGNED AND LAUNCHED A NOVEL PATIENT-LED POLICY EDUCATION PROGRAM TO TEACH PATIENTS ABOUT POLICY ISSUES THAT IMPACT THEIR ACCESS TO TREATMENTS AND HOW TO GET MORE INVOLVED IN SHARING THEIR STORIES TO INFLUENCE CHANGE. WE HAVE ALSO INTERACTED WITH LEGISLATORS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY VIA LETTER SUBMISSIONS AND COALITION PARTICIPATION TO ENSURE PATIENT NEEDS ARE COUNTED IN POLICY EFFORTS.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT: OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM ENABLES PEOPLE PASSIONATE ABOUT OUR CAUSE TO DONATE TIME TOWARDS IMPACTING OUR MISSION. THIS MAY INCLUDE WORKING ALONGSIDE STAFF TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT OUR PROGRAMS, CONTRIBUTING SPECIFIC SKILLS TO IMPROVE OUR WORK AND OFFSET CONTRACTOR COSTS, OR HOST FUNDRAISERS.
