GIVEN COVID, THE CENTER WAS FORCED TO CURTAIL ALMOST ALL OF ITS CULTURAL PROGRAMMING. BUT IT DID PROVIDE ONLINE PROGRAMMING FOR HUNDREDS OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBIC AND COMPLETED DOZENS OF ORAL HISTORIES FOR A NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM AND RELEASED ITS NEW AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY ON MOONSHINE HISTORY (THE SPIRITS STILL MOVE THEM) AND A FILM ON OVERCOMING CHALLENGES (THEY WHO OVERCAME) AND PRODUCED SEVERAL SHORT FILMS.

THE PANDEMIC HAS MADE IT CLEAR HOW IMPORTANT IT IS, NOW MORE THAN EVER, TO DIGITIZE, SYNOPSIZE, TRANSCRIBE AND UPLOAD THESE ORAL HISTORIES TO MAKE THEM MORE ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC. THIS SUPPORT WILL HELP THE CENTER CARRY OUT ITS HUMANITIES MISSION, IT WILL PRESERVE PRECIOUS AND DETERIORATING ARCHIVES, IT WILL SUPPORT EXISTING STAFF SALARIES AND POSSIBLY ENABLE US TO HIRE NEW STAFF. | $15,000 |
